im really scared about their dad, he has high expectations for his father but theres obviously a lot off with him. Also seeing a lot of troubling symbolism being used with him, like all the signs of demons being related to him such as the horns from the chair, and the demon in the sparkler. #bsuwlit

Seeing how vibrant their mother's grave is compared to the rest of the graves in the graveyard is both very sweet and very sad. It seems she was deeply loved and respected by this family, and Rocky showing those pictures to her was also very cute and sad. #bsuwlit

I already really like this kid; this is a fun start to the movie. This family looks interesting. I think the contrast that's being set up here of this childlike lens boy has to view his life and what's seeming to be the reality is also curious so far. #bsuwlit

I would recommend Zahra's Paradise and the Lieutenant of Inishmore, I don't think I would sell those back if I had purchased the materials in paper instead of online. #bsuwlit

Mendhi's confirmed death is obviously very saddening, especially after seeing the lengths his family went through to locate him. You build hope as you read, due in part to how confident his mother seems in the fact that he has to be out there somewhere, and the reveal becomes crushing. #bsuwlit

It's sad reading things like this novel because despite their dates and being published years before it's still easy to relate these events to current events. This book wasn't released a long time ago, but you would still hope in the time since then things would have changed for the better. #bsuwlit

Graphic novels like this always impress me because they require a good amount of skill, not just in terms of the art style but also in terms of how well the art relays all the little details you usually get in reading. Comics are good for giving more visualization, but sometimes (1)

This play was different from the majority I have seen, but overall I liked it despite some of its shocking moments. It was genuinely humorous in some parts, and honestly, I wonder what it would be like to see live due to some of the more graphic content. #bsuwlit

Crazy opening to start with, someone else already pointed it out but it seems to be a reoccurring thing between McDonaghs work to use animal violence. It works well in catching the reader off guard, but its still a bit jarring to see. #bsuwlit

I think it’s interesting to see the similarity that McDonagh has with this and “Six Shooter.” Specifically the animal violence. And I think it’s also thought provoking that we typically see Irish characters be predominantly violent and portrayed as psychotic.

The idea of living a normal life as if the world isn't burning around us is something that is felt worldwide.

“Pray for us- because our costumes won’t hide the true cost of our greed” I love this because with age I have realized the waste from Halloween and I even try to minimize this waste but it feels like it’ll never be enough

"...praise his mother, Ocean, who is dying in a warming bath among dead fish and refugee children." This poem in particular was sad and a harsh truth about the reality of the actual climate we are all living in, and its very scary and depressing, but beautifully put together. #bsuwlit

even though it's a bit of grim subject matter. It's impressive to me how someone can make something like that sound so peaceful, because that's how it read to me. Like it was natural, this whole process, and calming to this corpse. (2) #bsuwlit

Bog Queen was an interesting read to me because I've heard about all the bodies in bogs before and how dangerous bogs can be, but the description given for that poem and how the decomposition of the body described was honestly beautiful and a bit disturbing, something I found cool (1)
