Maybe because the new C64 Ultimates are just around the corner? And the new owners might want to play some new games too?

1984: C64, 1987: Amiga 500, 1988: IT technician, 1997 Mac, 2016: Arduino, 2017: 3D printers, ... Still collecting that stuff.

13.11.2025 19:52 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My Ultimate 64 Elite-II from Gideon is up and running smoothly.
05.11.2025 07:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My Ultimate 64 Elite-II board is here! ๐ฅฐ
And I already put it in a nice breadbin case, with a real SID.
It's working perfectly. More pics to come...

My first C64U is on its way.
OK, it's "just" an Ultimate 64 Elite-II mainboard from Gideon.
But that's the next best thing, isn't it?
๐ฅฐ
I don't need to drink to buy stuff I already have plenty of.
And I don't need Friday evenings to do it.
I just need to see a C64 with a 1541 and an Amiga 500 in a pack for 130,- โฌ on a Thursday evening to instantly buy it.
That'll be 1.5 years later than originally planned but I think I'm still in.
Even though I've got an original one.
I've seen my share of crazy printer mechanisms from the 70s and 80s but since I never had any Atari back then this is new to me. Cool, but crazy. Even more so that you were able to remake that ribbon. ๐ฅฐ
21.10.2025 18:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0That's most of the C64 tapes I own, and all bought only last year.
24.09.2025 18:51 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'll take dozens of photos. ๐ฅฐ
Beginning with the outer box, I'll document every step of the unboxing. No, I don't do videos anymore. ๐
At least three new ones for me, hopefully before Christmas.
One from Gideon, two from @wearecommodore.bsky.social
Nice to see a current picture of him, 38 years after I read this:

This was taken just now, showing a small portion of my retro computer collection that I started in the mid 1990s.
How many are there? I stopped counting at 64...
The only two that I still have since I bought them new in '92 and '93 are an Amiga 4000 and a CD32.
There are Apples and Ataris too...
I credit you posting this pic for me joining Perifractic's patreon. ๐

Now we need a Boing Ball Demo on the Commodore 64 Ultimate! That could be a first step towards a full Amiga core. ๐คฉ
Boulder Dash, Buggy Boy, The Great Giana Sisters, Little Computer People, Moon Buggy, Pitstop II, Summer Games I & II, Uridium, Winter Games

With the final payment locking in the deal CEO Peri Fractic signed the final contracts in The Netherlands, officially acquiring all 47 original Commodore trademarks. After decades adrift, the brand is finally where it belongs - with fans.

01.08.2025 16:44 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For me it's 38 years of owning an Amiga. I got my A500 in may 1987.
And here are a few (not all) from my collection. ;-)
I think "trick" is too harsh. Colour cycling was a nice feature of the Amiga.
And it had smooth scrolling of a large bitmap in front of a static one. And it ran in multitasking, you could drag the screen down to reveal workbench, etc.
And it had the digitised sound of a ball hitting a garage door.
Commodore ist wieder da!

Das muss ich natรผrlich sofort unterstรผtzen. Habe also gerade einen Commodore 64 Ultimate vorbestellt.
Nice! I already have Gideon's 1541 Ultimate II+L and it's by far the best "1541 emulator" and much more!
12.07.2025 18:20 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh, Dave Haynie is on board too, nice!
I still remember having a very nice talk with him and Andy Finkel at CeBIT 1997 at the PIOS booth.
Finally Commodore is back in the right hands. ๐
Sure: follow, buy one C64 Ultimate.
Done both just now. ๐ฅฐ
