I bought this at last year's World Fantasycon. It's a terrific collection that demonstrates a great range in storytelling. Recommended.

Been a bit since I shared that, and I think we could use some stories that spread hope and positivity, even in the darkest of times. And these have soundtracks too, so you can dance to my books if you want.

Can we PLEASE stop telling authors to cut other languages from their books? I’ve talked to multiple authors told to remove the Spanish. 😠 If readers can figure out what a hobbit is or casually drop β€œvalar morghulis,” they can context clue their way through a real language.

Got one of those "Look back at what photos you took/saved on this date over the years" emails from a storage app.

Scrolled down... and ALL of the photos were of Min Yoongi.

Like I know him or something.

Laughed so hard my mom came to see what was up and I had to show her so she could laugh too.

We love seeing this four year recap of the @sauutiverse.bsky.social and including our own novella Songs for the Shadows by Cheryl S. Ntumy, a beautiful reflection on grief and purpose.

We believe the SauΓΊtiverse is the best thing going on in literature and it deserves much more attention. #BookSky

Right are the signing and reading dates for March.

One day.
One day I'll be the one.

I've been able to experience so many things I've dreamed of doing. Not all of them by any means, but quite a few.

But not this. Not yet.
Not YET.

my hot writing take is that playing with POV is neat and you can do what you want. present tense first! close third! first-person-direct-address with bits of omniscient third! anything is legal if you look good doing it!!

A thought-provoking piece that ironically [for me] is quite relevant to my next book coming out and a lot of the things I was contemplating as I wrote it

We could end homelessness and hunger tomorrow if we wanted to.

We could agree that everyone should be fed and housed.

We could admit that being disabled, poor, homeless or unemployed is not a moral failing.

That society would be better off if everyone’s basic needs were met.

I'm so angry and I don't know what I can do about it. I want your stories. I want the stories of unique, interesting, and underrepresented people. And I want people to tag mine, too.
I went self-pubbed for similar reasons. I'm not burned out yet but I had to adjust my expectations. It's not enough.

Illustrated cover of WHEN YESTERDAY ENDS by S. Jean. In the center are two men standing back to back. The short of the two, Ambrose, has fair skin, red hair, glasses, and one green eyes and one glowing hazel eye. He is wearing an open button-up with an undershirt beneath it. In his hands are an open book and a potion bottle with red liquid inside. He is glancing back at the man behind him. The taller of the two, Renwick, has fair skin, dark brown feathered hair, and green eyes. He also has pointed ears, like an elf. He is wearing a dark vest over a dark shirt. In his raised hand are a bundle of daisies. While Ambrose looks unamused, Renwick has a coy smile on his lips as he gazes as Ambrose. Behind them is an open window with a golden glow and in the foreground are more daisies. The colors are soft and give it a sort of ephemeral feel.
Along the top is a tagline that reads: "an herbalist, a fey lord, and a curse before summer ends..." and below is the release date, JULY 28th, 2026.

A blurb graphic for When Yesterday Ends. The blurb reads:
Nettles Hollow is as good a place as any to restart your life. At least, Ambrose Howl hopes so after his life falls apart.

The town’s got everything he needs: a general store carrying his favorite cigarettes, a library he could get lost in, and a hedge witch who immediately befriends him. He settles in as an herbalist, using the knowledge he’d gained from academia that he’d left behind, and for once in his life, he feels like he could be content. It’s not so bad living in some rural, far-flung town.

Until he’s visited and kidnapped by the skeleton valet of Renwick Frey, a fey lord living in hiding who is cursed to eat human hearts every five summers to remain alive. As his next victim, Ambrose saves himself by making the desperate claim of knowing how to break curses. Renwick is charmed enough to let him try, but if Ambrose can’t break the curse by summer’s end, then his heart is forfeit.

The problem? He’s never broken a curse in his life, and given the mysterious circumstances of this one, he might even die before summer ends.

Along the bottom is where to preorder the book, which is: https://books.earlronove.com/whenyesterdayends

I've been kicking around trying to add greens; Crohn's makes it difficult for me to handle a lot of green veg, so salads are no good anymore and I miss them. I'm thinking some blended spinach might not be terrible. I'd try powdered greens but a lot of them have spirulina and I'm allergic.

Today's smoothie is a very basic banana/strawberry/frozen blueberry with cinnamon and almond milk. I need to get some more smoothie additions! I like to do a mix of frozen/fresh fruit, because right now we don't have an ice maker and the freezer's too full for trays. What's your fave ingredients?
