What's the old saying, "Fools rush in." Then again, it's always been a problem when dealing with gold rushers. It seems that everything we create has a dark side to it.

Every household with a second vehicle should be electric. If memory serves me, 80% of second vehicle drivers travel within 15km of their homes. Cheaper to operate, less moving parts. Back power supply in power outages?

Perhaps this might sound somewhat counterintuitive, especially when things appear to be chaotic. I think it is a perfect time to set up a Canadian Sovereign Fund. Let it sit for 50yrs, use it for future nation-building projects?

Meta is using pirated books to train AI β€” including those by N.L. authors | CBC News Artificial intelligence can’t do the dishes or the laundry, but it can replicate the writing style of just about any author, including those from Newfoundland and Labrador.

This is so awful. St. John's author Trudy Morgan-Cole was horrified to find out she is one of millions of authors whose work is being used to train Meta's AI language model. "Writers have been given no opportunity to say yes or no, and certainly no compensation," she said. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I think that economics is like a transportation system in and of itself through time.

A means of elevating the well being of communities/civilization and avoiding conflict.

I also think the single biggest economic policy failure of the later part of the 20th century is trickle down economics.

What would mitigation, adaptation and continuity look like?
