Does 2020 have any bearing? Yes! We learn from history. If you run a bad campaign and don't attract support, you learn and do better. Her 2024 campaign failed to do that. She should have won, but her campaign has some culpability for the loss, too, and I'm sick of people pretending otherwise.

Her campaign assumed guaranteed votes from the left and spent too much energy trying to court disillusioned conservatives and ignoring how pissed off people were at Biden and myopically focusing on recent events (Gaza and rising prices). This alienated a lot of said idiot, shortsighted voters.

Polls also showed her winning. People don't want to admit that voters, especially younger ones, are stupid and shortsighted. The right aren't the only ones with single issue voters. Young voters and progressives were absolutely focused on Gaza. Just look at the stats of who didn't show up at all.

That is incredibly reductive. She was an unpopular candidate who was nominated skirting the Democratic process, didn't take a strong stance on the situation on Gaza, and was further harmed by race/gender identity politics. All that said, I doubt she would have won a primary, let alone the election
