Upped my monthly pledge because I can't stand to think of a world without @wfmu.bsky.social . I've been listening for ~25 yrs and pledging for 20+ and I'm 100% certain I've had my money's worth back and more.

When he says shit like this, it just makes me want to speak out more about what living with PTSD & the memory of my dead friends is like.

I turn 40 this year, I was a combat veteran by 18 years old. The first mission I ever saw was dead American soldiers being sent home in boxes. #PTSD #Veteran

One of the core messages of the work at Stand Up for Science is we are fighting against science being used as a weapon against civilians.

The US bombed a school that was IN SESSION. What makes you think they won’t turn that tech on us, too.

over and over they say it out loud: big ideas for the elite class, and only widget grunts for the working people.

ideas are for everybody. art is for everybody. education is for everybody.

The Department of Education has hung a massive banner honoring a racist college dropout who built a lucrative career out of targeting professors for harassment

They went to war with Iran (which nobody in America was asking for) so they could conjure an excuse to allow ICE to keep murdering Americans and teargassing schools here at home with impunity (which nobody in America was asking for).

It’s insane this is legal. People around Trump are profiting off war and death. I’m introducing legislation ASAP to ban this.

Does this dude think that the ayatollah who we just killed is the same one who rose to power in 1979?

Read it again. We killed 85 schoolgirls this morning.

The state of the union address was like 72 hours before the US and Israel chose to attack Iran’s capital and call for regime change, and Trump did not even mention his policy toward Iran before Congress, much less ask for a declaration of war.

They came here to flee war. Now these same people are hearing & hearing about explosions in a place they came to be safe.

Theyβ€”weβ€”want peace.

Every civilian from Israel to Iran, and everywhere in between & beyond, deserves empathy. I’ve seen far too many heartless reactions already.

I can’t emphasise leading w/ empathy for civilians *everywhere* on a day like today enough.

The first casualty here in the UAE, where I live, is an Asian civilian at a residential building.

Many Ukrainians, Palestinians, Iraqis, Syrians, Sudanese & other war-traumatised people live here.

Just watched Trump’s remarks.

The nuclear argument is incoherent (β€œThey will be totally β€” again β€” obliterated”?)

Can’t figure out what his argument actually is on an imminent threat to the U.S.

And he ends by making clear the U.S. has begun a regime change war.

Number of students killed in Israeli attack on school in southern Iran rises to 24
We have reported earlier that an Israeli strike hit an elementary girl’s school in Minab, a city in the Hormozgan province of southern Iran, killing five people.

Now, Iran’s Fars news agency is reporting that the number of students killed rose to 24.

In the past, sometimes presidents have said it’s just a military operation or limited airstrikes to skirt Congress. Trump has unilaterally launched major combat operations, declaring war with the goal of regime change. A major violation of the U.S. Constitution, also illegal under international law

Oh so suddenly it was Iran. Gee, if you're at war with a foreign power that already rigged your elections... you'll probably need to cancel the next lot of elections, or take them under state control, or guard polling stations with troops... or something like that...

Deeply conflicted, Kushner represents the U.S. in high-stakes negotiations with Iran Today in Geneva, Switzerland, Jared Kushner will represent the United States in meetings with Iranian officials β€” a last-ditch effort to avoid war.

Just a reminder: instead of an actual diplomat, we sent Trump’s deeply compromised son-in-law as the lead negotiator to avert war with Iran.

It's good to see powerful men face consequences for enabling and associating with Jeffrey Epstein and I hope someday to see powerful men face consequences for enabling and associating with Donald Trump.

I appreciate honest descriptions of someone's academic disposition. My favorite letter in the stack of apps I've read this week is from someone who quotes a bunch of emails the student sent after class to follow up on points from class discussion. So sweet and wholesome and really engaging.

Speaking of Bill Callahan, when I went to grab tickets for the show in a couple months at Knockdown Ctr there was an option to by two "group of 2" tickets basically for the price of two tickets. Jumped on that!

Of course the opposite problem is every US academic whose every letter is for a top 2% all-time best student ever. But when they *don't* tick that box you wonder if they're trying to raise a red flag.
