It’s a great book. I’ve reread bits already! It’s an interesting slant on punk, post punk, riot grrl and grunge. Thank you

I can now join in the love for Small Prophets, all six episodes blend into a delightful piece of TV. Not sure I want a sequel as this is fairly perfect.

I read it just after my mother’s stroke. The final section really resonated with me. This is an epic novel and made me fall in love with fiction all over again.

This half term has seen me listening to: Pullman, Miles Davis, Courtney Barnet, Alan Sparhawk and the Raincoats.

The Ballad of Wallis Island is a beautiful little film. Funny and sad.

Well, I agree. Someone who likes early Orange Juice (and the Wedding Present) is ok with me too

Excellent, our principal announced on Friday that the university courses with the sharpest decrease in numbers are sociology and business.

Sociology is the enemy of the powerful. That's why authoritarians always come for it.

I watched A Mighty Wind last night in tribute to Catherine O’Hara. Her performance in this is faultless. Funny yes but a wholly rounded character which was her forte.

Recently I met a drum and bass DJ who'd opened a supermarket.

It was an Aldi but Goldie.

Halifax PM
Dropped daughter off at guides. Went to Asda for milk, kids shouting in the aisles. One approached me, called me Frank. Paid for my milk the beeps drowned out the shouts. On the drive home kids in black on e-bikes weaving through traffic, no lights, abuse to drivers. Flags fly.

Reading The Drums by Mike Joyce, probably the best book written by a Smith. The joy he feels being part of that group is palpable
