If I was charmed by the HBO/BBC Three series Starstruck, what should I watch next?

the absolute best you can do in defense of this guy is to claim that he has no idea what's going on in this country and no desire to change that. as political pitches go there are better ones

it’s wild how everyone hates Fetterman (correctly) and there’s a guy running who’s basically holding a huge I’m The Next Fetterman sign and it hasn’t slowed him down at all

I also think there is a lot of shaming of folks here when we talk about culture. You get some version of β€œmust be nice to not be consumed with the dystopia!” Lol

Like culture posts on this app simply don’t get the engagement and I think it’s because people feel it’s frivolous and actually it’s the thing we are fighting for, the freedom to make culture and cultural works

I do actually think there is a serious imbalance on this app. A lot of politics and not enough culture. Some of that has to do with the fact that Black Twitter mostly went to Threads.

This framework explains so many actions by Democratic leadership: they’re not weak on XYZ, or being conned, or whatever. They’re making a choice in line with their commitments.

It is completely reasonable to email your dean and/or Provost to ask what is being done at your university to stop this from happening to your students

Because of the way social media works, during primary season I tend to repeat myself often here. For @yuhline.bsky.social, let me repeat this true and important statement:

THIS IS NOT HYPERBOLE: WE WOULD NOT HAVE MATCHING FUNDS AT THE STATE LEVEL WERE IT NOT FOR YUH-LINE.

Rightβ€”"look how alarmingly influential the cops are" seems like a reason to mobilize, not a reason to stand down.

Clearly there’s a need for counterpressure.

I can't even speak about Nurul Amin Shah Alam. All I have to say is that the people constantly distinguishing between ICE, CBP and the REGULAR COPS are fools. That's it.

@governorwalz.mn.gov what are you doing? Folks in MN are days away from rent being due but 10s of thousands of people are being impacted by ICE and the Federal government. You need to push to pass a rent moratorium until ICE IS OUT of MN. Please move on this fast.

When capacity is treated as fixed, the eugenic (and of course neoliberal) premise of β€œnot everyone can be taken care of” is depoliticized as an economic discovery instead of named as a political decision. And that move does not merely reflect an able-bodied baselineβ€”it produces one.

I've always loved the background of Jacob Lawrence's 1943 painting "City College is Like a Beacon Over Harlem," with its snow-covered hill featuring numerous sled riders at play
