Despite only having average levels of interest in space as a kid, my Grade 1 teacher legit tried to cure my dyslexia and dyscalculia by telling me that if I didn't get my math and reading grades up, I'd never be an astronaut.

...anyway, I hope that we can preserve their legacy by talking about them and their work, and by embracing the descendants (literal and community) of these creative people, who are reclaiming voices that people once tried to gas and burn away.

They didn't pull over 9000 artists from their homes one night; they spent years creating "socially acceptable" ways to say that these people were themselves "unacceptable" and remove them from social gaze. When diverse artists are already silenced, it's easy to quietly eliminate them...

I usually try to be more horror/writing focused and happier, but feel it's important to acknowledge that many were already imprisoned for being neuro-diverse, mentally ill, LGBT+, Jewish, Romani, Communist, critical of Hitler/Nazism, or otherwise not fitting in...
