the value of human life, and the international rules that apply to you, should not be defined by what side of a human drawn line you live on. I do not support Iran's government, but human life is human life, and a clear double standard is a clear double standard.

Thanks Eryn! Great questions! And great to be back on the #HorrorWritersChat!

Given the animal theme of the week it only seems right to give a shout out to my short #horror collection; The Mistress of the Crows.

So horrible, and such a double standard. I do not support Iran's government, but it feels like when a Western-aligned country is attacked, it's an excuse to do anything, but when a non-aligned nation is attacked, they are told they had it coming, and any retaliation is unreasonable.

While on the topic, it feels important to acknowledge that Gyllenhaal’s smartest male character isn’t that of Frankenstein but of Peter Sarsgaard’s Detective Jake Wiles. Sarsgaard performs the character admirably, of course, but the cleverness of Wiles exists in his simplicity. Throughout The Bride, he repeatedly insists that things aren’t β€œup to him” while never even trying to affect change. Sure, it’s a pity all them broads are losing their tongues, but it ain’t up to him! Awful that the Commissioner dropped that important case, but it ain’t up to him! Pity that his partner (β€œsecretary”) Myrna Mallow (Penelope Cruz) can’t have her name on their cases because she’s a lady. It. Ain’t. Up. To. Him.

In my experience (having worked in healthcare), whenever you know "too much" about death/bodies, people just assume you're a serial killer, even if they know you work in a hospital.

Maybe it's the body in the attic throwing them off (jk - just to be clear🀣)

I'm so sorry that you have been living through this. Unfortunately, I am not in the USA, so I can't help you much there, but I did find this hub of resources for supports in the USA. I don't know if that might be helpful?

A woman trying to save her city has to slit a few throats to do it in this noir-inspired dark fantasy world, a story I wanted to tell that was the reason I became a writer.

It's Women in Horror Month! I am a woman and I do, in fact, write horror, usually about other women in haunted houses or dying worlds or beset by eldritch deities. If any of that sounds like your thing, perhaps one of my books will interest you! #booksky
