CAL FIRE responders work to contain the August LNU Pickett Fire.

CAL FIRE responders in the air on an UH-1H, also known as the Super Huey. The modified, Vietnam War-era helicopters' primary mission is responding to initial attack wildfires and rescue missions. When responding to wildfires, the helicopter can quickly deliver up to a 9-person Helitack Crew for ground firefighting operations and quickly transition into water/foam dropping missions.

A CAL FIRE S-2T Airtanker in the sky dropping fire retardant. The S-2T airtankers are used for rapid initial attack delivery of fire retardant on wildfires.

Fighting the Pickett Fire in August 2025, CAL FIRE personnel work to clear vegetation and create fire breaks to prevent the blaze from spreading.

While the Trump Administration defunds federal firefighting efforts, California continues to dominate with our fire prevention and response.
