It's not explicitly branded as such but I think that @mikechenwriter.bsky.social's Vampire Weekend is a really good example of ace representation in fiction. Vampires in this world lose all interest in sex but still form other bonds and have other deep interests; the protagonist is music-obsessed.

I finished C.L. Polk's delightful romantasy THE FEYWILD JOB last week (D&D IP featuring "just one bed") so now I'm on to Valeria Luiselli's latest, BEGINNING MIDDLE END, about mothers and daughters and whether narrative and truth are antithetical. both feed me in different ways, come on folks

when we were trying to sell my second novel, The Women Could Fly, the biggest questions I had when talking to potential editors were why was there so much emphasis on different forms of collectiveness (protests, artistic collaboration, magic as being more powerful in a group, the ending)

#FridayReads The recently started book that I know I'm also going to be telling everyone about is The Shamshine Blind by @pazsays.bsky.social. It's a literally "noir" detective story in a world where color-based psychopigments are powerful drugs that control emotions, for good or for ill.

Cached US #KindleBookGiveaway: 12 copies of Deerskin by Robin McKinley, a retelling of Donkeyskin, which I didn't know until fairly recently. CW: the plot is driven by a violent, incestuous rape relatively early in the book, which happens on-page (but is relayed extremely chaotically).
