Writers.com New Course Ideas
If that sounds like something you'd be interested in I'd love it if you'd let writers.com know by filling in the "interested" bubble on this survey. It's the second class on the form: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

This class has very few group meetings and is structured to give space for the writer to work on whatever they feel their project needs, but if you're looking for something with more group support I've pitched a more craft-focused class called "Fall Back in Love with Your Manuscript"β

We'll also work together to craft a plan for building (and protecting) a writing process that fits with your life and will let you carry the momentum of the class onwards after it ends

It's not explicitly branded as such but I think that @mikechenwriter.bsky.social's Vampire Weekend is a really good example of ace representation in fiction. Vampires in this world lose all interest in sex but still form other bonds and have other deep interests; the protagonist is music-obsessed.

The Shamshine Blind by Paz Pardo
I adored this one, like a classic Phillip K. Dick sci-fi cop noir painted with a psychedelic color palette. #BookSky

when we were trying to sell my second novel, The Women Could Fly, the biggest questions I had when talking to potential editors were why was there so much emphasis on different forms of collectiveness (protests, artistic collaboration, magic as being more powerful in a group, the ending)

#FridayReads The recently started book that I know I'm also going to be telling everyone about is The Shamshine Blind by @pazsays.bsky.social. It's a literally "noir" detective story in a world where color-based psychopigments are powerful drugs that control emotions, for good or for ill.

Nothing will ever top that original picture but I need people to understand that this is probably one of the most unreal guys alive. A totally impossible guy. Like by all rights he should not exist but at the same time he could of course only exist in the dimension weβre all trapped in.

Cached US #KindleBookGiveaway: 12 copies of Deerskin by Robin McKinley, a retelling of Donkeyskin, which I didn't know until fairly recently. CW: the plot is driven by a violent, incestuous rape relatively early in the book, which happens on-page (but is relayed extremely chaotically).
