It's surprising how many meat-eaters get triggered by the idea that some people don't eat meat.
Not just the "ok, more bacon for me" type, but really upset.

They always have had a vegan option, some kind of veggie boiled to death, and various kinds of potatoes that don't have dairy as well as some that do :-)

It is kinda wild! that the first chains of Big Box stores who are sharing license plate readers directly with law enforcement are the hardware chains Home Depot and Lowe's where immigrants hang out looking for day work and ICE is targeting for raids.

I forget whether I've tried to make an alcoholic gel with agar,
but agar works if anything better than animal gelatin for
making coffee-jelly desserts.

There are parts that aren't always nice, but I'm in the SF Bay Area, and in summer you can find pretty much whatever temperature you like within an hour's drive :-)

I'm in California, where it's always nice, but that's only affordable because I moved here 30 years ago.
My uncle from Minneapolis moved to Pasadena a couple years ago to live near his kids, having decided in his late 80s that he'd had enough snow.
