I'll need to think on this. I read. A lot. I used to sing. A lot. I write - just for me. I'm a gay man past 40 - so, basically, dead.

12.11.2025 20:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is it just me or is Bluesky starting to be viciously invaded by bots?
12.11.2025 13:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For me, you are one of the people who make staying in the planet worthwhile.
I keep a list.
And I'm grateful you're here (on the planet and BlueSky) and present in your truth and insights.
So, thank you for what you do and who you are.
Difficult! Different phases of my life, different answers. But ... Joan Didion's PLAY IT AS IT LAYS.
Helene Hanff's everything, but especially UNDERFOOT IN SHOW BUSINESS, & Q'S LEGACY.
COLLECTED DOROTHY PARKER, especially the book & theatre reviews.
And WUTHERING HEIGHTS. My dating manual.
So we coloured in Helene Hanffβs dog - of course it had to be yellow (in honour of the New York taxi cab, Playbill booklets and the starry lights of Broadway, where this book is set). #underfootinshowbusiness #booksky ππππ
12.11.2025 07:29 β π 10 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0I missed Ann Reinking's birthday yesterday. I'm sorry about that. I loved her so much.

Thanksgiving-Cyber Monday, my wallet's ignoring Target, Home Depot, & Amazon. I'm tired of corporations enabling this administration ditching DEI, allowing ICE to terrorize our communities, & chase tax breaks. Join me! #WeAintBuyingIt π« app.sosha.ai/s/1uRqdIjs
11.11.2025 21:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Caretaking wears me very thin some days. And the democrats aren't helping me maintain much hope that things will get better any time soon. So, I need that metaphorical day of sky.
11.11.2025 17:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I remember days.
Or, at least, I try.
But as years go by
They're a sort of haze.
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky.
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky.

I brought my lemon tree in for the winter. I love my mini-garden in my bedroom. At least something is alive in here.
11.11.2025 15:05 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0@alsobrooks.senate.gov Hi, this is one of your MD constituents. Get Schumer out. We voted for you people to fight, not fold to the fascists. If you can't do the job, we'll elect people with spine who actually represent us. Get Schumer out, or you, too, will not be re-elected. So disappointed in you.

11.11.2025 14:55 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Daily reminder: REPLACE SCHUMER - and call the 8 who voted to screw us, and all your reps - useless dems & fascist enabling gopmagas - to say we won't forget the people who are betraying democracy when it's time to vote.
11.11.2025 14:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dear SpellingBee, GAGGY is very much a word. But what can I expect from a so-called "news"paper which has genuflected in simpering obeisance to the gaggy magats?
11.11.2025 13:33 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I guess the senate democrats think we're idiots & don't know that this was a surrender agreed upon behind closed doors, then 8 who were not up for re-election in 2026 chosen to take the fall. They all need to be voted out. They don't represent our interests. This is such a shameful failure.
11.11.2025 02:36 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Dearest One, I can scarce recognize myself I'm so busy working to wreak vengeance on those profiting from the despair of others. It's a tiny bit exhausting and I feel less MiracleCharlie & more MurderingMadCharlie.
10.11.2025 21:26 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Turncoat Dem Senators #s all start with 202-224 & finish with:
Shaheen: 2841
Hassan: 3324
King: 5344
Kaine: 4024
Durbin: 2152
Fetterman: 4254
Cortez Masto: 3542
Shaheen's message box was full and Durbin doesn't give you an option to leave a message.
I called them all. Twice. You should too!
To say I'm shocked would be an understatement. I'll take my wins where I can get them. I bet justices cthomaga and alitolottajackass are throwing goons. I hope they give themselves coronaries.
10.11.2025 15:13 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am as shallow as it comes when it comes to JE, with whom I'm obsessed. ON SWIFT HORSES, SALT BURN (love everything about this movie), and EUPHORIA. He is especially gifted at making terribly flawed humans sympathetic. I'm salivating over WUTHERING HEIGHTS.
10.11.2025 14:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That aside, pretty impressive what Mr. Elordi did with his eyes and physicality. Managing to remain sympathetic despite the destruction and death. And freeing the ship, so many levels going on - I did feel like there was something missing between creator and creature.
10.11.2025 13:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I watched it the day it hit Netflix. It was visually stunning. But, making him ugly is a criminal waste of Jacob Elordi. I kept waiting for The Creature's fantasy of becoming beautiful and whole, and the necessary nudity involved in that sequence.
10.11.2025 13:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0It will be sweet to see them all get primaried by people who won't sell us out. Of course, by then, health care will cost double (at least) what it does now, & the fascists will still be doing their "Lucy pulling away the football YET AGAIN" dance. I don't understand. WE WERE WINNING. Ugh.
10.11.2025 13:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0True, I live w/& cook for a pescatarian, but sometimes, when it's been a long week (& the day starts badly w/ unexpected but urgent laundry) - I need the Sunday smells of my aunt's home, a long roasting chicken & vegetables, low temp, all afternoon. Because. And today, well, I need it. And so it is.
09.11.2025 17:26 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It is beyond my understanding- going to the Supreme Court to deny people SNAP. It is also beyond repugnant and immoral. Anyone who doesn't yet understand that this man and his jackbooted thugs are sociopaths, is either very very stupid or very very evil.
08.11.2025 13:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ahhh. I hope not.
08.11.2025 01:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I did not. I'll have to look that up
08.11.2025 00:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Lol. I only realized after posting that most people don't know my name is Smith. No reason they would lol. I've long been a fan of Smith No.45, peppermint tea. I usually use the leaves but the teas bags are great too.
07.11.2025 13:14 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0(Our last name is Smith. So, we both buy Smith tea. Which also happens to be lovely. Even without the name connection.)
07.11.2025 12:40 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My younger sister was on a month long cross country jaunt (I am the only poor sibling, lol) and brought me back some tea (and also a tote from Ann Patchett's Parnassus Books). I'm very very happy she's back in our hometown.
07.11.2025 12:19 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I hope I live to see the day when the SCOTUS heritage foundation bots are impeached and removed and all their bullshit rulings overturned. I can't stand those 6 magat-fascist f*cks.
