hello! I have been taking a break from chosen as I was struggling with terrible writers block and feelings of perfection for it my new WIP is currently called Stuck in the Shadows!

If you are an author that uses ai to write or create art then I’ve lost respect for you!!!! even if you are transparent about it!!! commission real artists, learn how to draw, or don’t have any art!!

after many a moons not writing and feeling bad about myself as a writer and wondering if my dreams are even worth it, I just sat and wrote 644 words
It’s not a lot but I’m proud of myself and I feel like o can actually do this again

currently 96th in line for sunrise on the reaping, started as 111th so we’ve made some progress

just pulled out my laptop after a month of ignoring writing! staring a new version of chosen but using the elements that I’ve already written in it so I don’t feel like a total failure lol
hopefully this version is the one that sticks and that truly feels like how this story should be told

because it took me a while to get to this, I did draw 2 names!! congrats to our winners!!!

it’s really just names that sound like them
like I hear something and it just feels right or it doesn’t

honestly I go through names until one just feels right! Amaris came to me randomly, his mentors names I’ve changed many times and I’ve settled on 2/3 of them but will be changing the third again, his sisters I settled on one pretty fast, but changed the other like twice

when I say "I started writing a new book" I really mean I've thought up a singular interesting scene playing out to a specific song that I am currently fleshing out in great detail in hopes this thing called "a plot" emerges from the veiled fog of my vague daydreams

reworking some things in my book before I can continue with it 🙂‍↕️

and by unnamed I do mean that even though I’ve been planning this book (and series if it gets that chance) for years, that she just has no name yet
I haven’t found the right one for her so until I do I just think of her as princess (her and Eid are side characters)

he doesn’t really ever get a chance to be silly goofy unforch but I just know if he did then he would be the silliest and goofiest of them all

if the book gets a chance to be the series that I hope it can then I would said Eid and unnamed princess are also in my tops

Sticking with just a fallen king, I hate to be basic but I truly adore amaris 🙂‍↕️ he’s my baby and I love him to bits!
In the solider poet king trend I say that he’s a solider, turned king, that only wanted to be a poet
he doesn’t know how to read but his dream as a child was to write stories

other than that, as I’ve created the world I’ve gotten like dreams with ideas for it and random ideas will pop into my head
Amaris’ name came to me during a church service which is fun bc when I looked up what the name meant it meant like “promised by god” which illy bc he is the chosen + church

There is a lot of potential for a series, so I only can dream I’m able to get that far with it to see it play out!! But the first book was “inspired” (and I use quotes bc it’s not really like that song lyric, but that’s when the idea hit me) by that!!

of betrayal (spoiler there’s betrayal in the book!) and I can’t go into too much detail bc I don’t want to spoil, but from there’s it’s developed quite far into a plot that I love and a storyline that I love!

okokok so I got the idea on an 11 hour car ride home when a song my friend loved at the time was playing (some Bo burnham song) and it have played a few times but randomly the lyric of something like “you say the whole worlds ending, honey it already did” made a vivid picture of a scene

haha stopped writing before doing this but since I’m going to start writing again and bc I feel my depression clearing I will draw the name tomorrow so you may still enter until 12pm cst tomorrow!

Querying is definitely what makes me hesitant for trad publishing! I know sometimes even if you have something it can still take years bc the market/what agents are looking for
I’ve been really considering self publishing

I wish nothing but good things for you and your writing!!! I hope an opportunity arises that you can take for either option!

I have been kinda leaning towards self publishing, but I’ve been keeping in mind traditional publishing! I was thinking of possibly pitching in just not fully sure

oh nice!! Do you recommend one for authors writing their first book who are unsure which route to go (aka me lol)
