Oh ho, I see someone is interested in dragon lore. I'll make a note to work on some lore pieces about the many varieties of dragon in my setting.

Writer. Gamer. Witch. Dungeon Master. I'm an obsessive Canadian writer and somewhat drowning game design student. I have a series of 12 novels currently in progress, with 8 mapped out in detail, and my first manuscript almost finished.

A force whose anger costs Cailean dearly.
I too will bring up snow. But it plays a very large role in my story. Or rather, it's absence does.
Cailean's people have followed the herds of frostmane elk across the frozen lands for generations.
Until Cailean foresees their icy home crumbling into the sea.

I knew the ending of each part of the series by the time I finished the outlining for about 10 of the books.
As a result, I'm likely going to have to go over all of my outlines again and redo them all because inspiration struck.
Again.

The Crystal Towers are a collection of ten magical towers scattered across the continent. Here's the list:
The Emerald Tower
The Moonstone Tower
The Amethyst Tower
The Sunstone Tower
The Lapis Tower
The Citrine Tower
The Onyx Tower
The Sapphire Tower
The Ruby Tower
The Garnet Tower
Oh it certainly is, I have some lore I'm working on for the Legend of the Ice Wolf, and I should probably start designing the look of the creature in my sketchbook.
06.11.2025 02:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fiachra loves his daughter, Rhiannon. Perhaps too much, seeing as he tries to insulate her from the dark realities of his reign, such as the mass enslavement of humans (despite the fact that they have slaves in the palace).
He keeps her innocent so that she will never challenge him.

The Amethyst Tower of the eastern holds.
Later in the rise of Ardoran, the High Kings/Queens establish magical towers across the continent as centers of magical and high level academic learning.
These towers are named for the gemstones embedded into their walls.

Because he hunted the Ice Wolf, he was accepted by a tribe of shapeshifters and put through their coming-of-age rites, including being gifted the prepared pelt of the Ice Wolf he hunted, which he would then wear regularly as a cloak later in life.
06.11.2025 01:29 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cailean is largely represented by an Ice Wolf (kind of like a direwolf from the northern mountains, but magical, and acts as an avatar of the Hunt Father to test the skill of hunters).
The reason for this? He hunted it as part of a rite of passage.

Here, a shot of what I think is page 31 of my rough draft of my manuscript. It's an emotional moment for my MC, given that...well, I think I'll let all of you try to figure out what's going on now. π

My brain is still trying to figure out if that's a Tiefling or a Qunari.
05.11.2025 15:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's not concerning at all.
05.11.2025 05:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have whole folders with character files in them, I even have a character index that I'll be implementing with each book. It covers all named characters found in its respective book.
04.11.2025 23:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And suddenly I realized that if I were reading those books, I would want to see how Cailean ended up creating a kingdom, why Cassius's brother died, and what happened to the Crystal Heart to cause Kai's return.
There were so many details that needed explaining that I just turned it into many books.
Well of course! The entire series takes place over the course of about 3000 years, so there's plenty that changes. The main parts of the series cover the most important events that led to the present. Because I may have started with the last four books and then the plot grew and mutated from there.
04.11.2025 23:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The next three books feature Tristyn and Gallus, though I haven't yet fully fleshed out who the rest of the main cast is going to be.
After that, we have Cassius, Derwen, and Katia, then Gaius and Marius.
And finally we have Adrian and Ciara, with a whole host of important characters around them.
That's going to depend heavily on which parts of the series I'm looking at. The first three books feature Cailean and Kai, as well as Iedan most strongly, with Finnan and Serenn playing large roles. Then I have a whole host of secondary characters.

04.11.2025 15:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Gossip, politics, scandal. Lucius is VERY opinionated and more observant that most of his extended family give him credit for. That boy would be an absolute menace of a podcaster because NOTHING is sacred to him.

04.11.2025 14:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cailean's existence reminds Kai that there is still light in the world, even when darkness tries its best to stamp it out.
It's that light that Kai swears to protect. No matter the pain, no matter the cost.
Because light shines brightest in the darkest places.
Cailean embraces the traditions and stories of others, and his love for storytelling is unmatched by any other character in the series (save one...sort ofπ).
Kai often tells Cailean that he's too soft, too open-hearted. But in truth, it's one of the things Kai cherishes most in Cailean.
Luckily for Kai, Cailean is full of it.
Love, I mean.
Cailean loves wholly and deeply. He's the sort of chieftain that sees a disaster coming and says "I'm getting ALL of the tribes out of here". His love and concern for others goes far beyond his kin.

Not a children's book really, but something I read as a child. The Little Book of Geology. I remember this title specifically, but I can't find the actual book anywhere online, probably because it's old as dirt.
I collected rocks as a kid. Especially the shiny ones.

Cailean's golden eye, or rather the blessing that the golden eye implies, is responsible for his visions of the future. He also develops the ability to look into the distant past (with significant effort), the present across vast distances, and even slip into the dreams of others to speak with them.
04.11.2025 13:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This blessing has turned Cailean into a gifted hunter (a very useful thing to be in a nomadic tribe of hunter-gatherers). Though his archery skills are his own, Cailean has a preternatural ability to SEE where his prey will be and time his arrows to hit targets that would otherwise be impossible.
04.11.2025 13:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Branoc later tells Cailean the story about the dawn where Cailean's eye turned gold, like a drop of sunlight had fallen into it.
This story reflects the nature of Cailean's gift, because his father believes that the Great Father, who once came to their world as a drop of sunlight, blessed Cailean.
Cailean's left eye. Let's talk some more about Cailean's heterochromia, Cailean's left eye has been a bright golden colour for as long as he can remember. He's been told that it happened shortly after he was born when his father took him outside for the first time.
