How it started and how it’s going. Marching for science
in January 2017 and again in April 2017 virtually, because I was doing my #scicomm job at a conf in Vienna. And today I am still communicating, still showing up with all of you to #standupforscience2025 ・ #sciencenotsilence ・

From genome junk to Nobel prize β€˜24, miRNAs are enjoying the spotlight. Awesome first example

For years, I have made the same silly wordplay on this Sunday sports frenzy, so I’m happy to see
stunning images of unmistakably superb owls, thanks to @theathletic.bsky.social

Fabulous example of #scicomm in this thread, using #Bluesky & walking us thru a great story of their recent pub using a mouse CRC model + Salmonella cancer therapy to induce anti-tumor Tcell responses. πŸ‘ @mmimic.bsky.social #immunosky #microsky #metabolism

Solution-phase indexing by kinetic confinement enables rapid, simple, and instrument-free single cell transcriptional profiling Existing tools for single cell genomics require complex physical frameworks for the indexing of cellular nucleic acids, including proprietary instrumentation, droplet emulsions, and laborious combinat...

Here's one of the articles in my reading stack this week: a bioRxiv preprint on kinetic confinement for single-cell transcriptomics folks who are looking for an elegantly simple way to index: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Bird flu in Canada may have mutated to become more transmissible to humans Scientists are racing to understand what a hospitalized teen’s case of bird flu may mean for future outbreaks

I spoke to @mscribe.bsky.social @theguardian.com about the H5N1 case in BC.

More and more human cases are occurring, along with mutations that indicate further human adaptation.

We need to treat these cases like a warning, because that is what they are.
