A knitted shawl shaped like outstretched wings pinned to a foam mat on a bed. The shawl is a gradient from orange to yellow to green at the feather tips. It's probably five feet wide!

That escalated quickly! I knitted this shawl in a bit over a month, which is very fast for me. A tricky pattern but worth it. Now I need something like a black dress to wear under it for a photoshoot! Wingspan by Kyle Vey in handspun from @fossilfibers.bsky.social batts.

A knitted shawl in progress. A gradient from orange at the top to yellow to yellow-green at the bottom. (The remaining yarn, not pictured, transitions to green) The top edge of the shawl is a semicircle, and it spreads out into two half formed wings. The stitches are arranged to look like feathers, but it's still wrinkled and scrunched in texture. The bottom edge is still on a long knitting needle, with a couple dozen stitch markers separating every feather repeat. Some of the markers are shaped like birds, and there is a silver spinning wheel charm and a blue sheep as well.

Sorry I haven't been here! I'm mostly getting my social media fix from various Discord servers these days. But I'm also spending a lot of time knitting! This Wingspan shawl is really coming along! All handspun yarn. Fun knit, once you have a system to track the short rows and staggered increases.

I haven't done a lot of spinning recently, but did manage to get this spin washed and skeined this weekend! The fiber was from @fossilfibers.bsky.social Passageways club.

Ponyo! This colorway encompasses so many of the bold, bright primaries and corals in this film. I took particular inspiration for this from Ponyo's mother.

Ghibli has this way of making the most inviting and cozy looking academia scenes. This is A Warm Study and it is based on all the wonderful scenes in The Wind Rises where Jiro is working at the drafting tables.

We can't do Ghibli without Haku. Spirited Away is an amazingly crafted piece of art and definitely a favorite. I chose our Fine Polwarth base for this one for some maximum softness and puff. The handle is excellent! 🥹

Arrietty's Room and her precious red dress. This colorway is both retro and earthy and I love it a whole heap. It didn't look great in the dye pans, but it blossomed while drying. 🥹

Soot Sprites Kit! This is on our Corriedale fiber and comes with 2oz of the dark Soot fiber and 1oz each of the star candy colors. I think this would make the most adorable striped projects like socks or mitts.

Finished my combo spin of a @fossilfibers.bsky.social batt and one of their Arcane braids (batt and braid photos from their original listings). It webbed up 520 yards and 24 wpi. I'm so proud of it!

Our first one of a kind band shuttle will be available tomorrow! Entirely hand carved with colored pencil and acrylic artwork. This is sealed triple to keep the artwork in place during use. The edges are beveled for better functionality in weaving.

The little Physarum this is based on has the prettiest peacock-colored iridescent surface! Iridescent sheen is always so hard to capture in fiber. 😂

A brown quilted zipper pouch with tan trim. The zipper is lined with two hand woven bands featuring images of 8 different ant species.

I made a quick little pouch out of my woven ant bands! I designed 8 pixel charts of different ant species for this project, sized so that each band would be the same length. I chose species with, in my opinion, some of the coolest morphology- especially love the big heads 🐜 #weaving #sewing #ants

The other two Play Packs coming to the shop tomorrow are Po-tay-toes on a Wensleydale/Romeldale cross and Demon King on a Romney/Merino cross. I'm a sucker for long wools and their crosses. 🤩
