No-one, disabled or otherwise, should experience this

A6 Most job descriptions ask for unnecessary skills - and we know disabled people are unlikely to apply if they don't meet 100% of the criteria. Job descriptions should be more realistic (and maybe disabled people should stop underestimating themselves!) #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong

Yes, the danger is that LLM contains the bias of all the humans that created the data the machine is using. Like humans, AI can be taught about bias, but we need to never assume that because it is AI, it is free of bias. Just not true. #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment #WeAreBillionStrong

A5 AI is a mixed blessing. It has huge positive possibilities in terms of improving accessibility for disabled people, for example through assistive tech. However, if involved in the assessment process, there is a big risk of inherent bias. #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment #WeAreBillionStrong

A4 For Evenbreak, partnerships with local organizations in other countries means that our candidates have access to appropriate resources, and the people the organizations support can be signposted to Evenbreak. A win/win! #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment #WeAreBillionStrong

A4 Effective partnerships with local organisations is vital in ensuring that disabled people, wherever they live, receive a service that works for them. Local people will understand the cultural nuances that outside people just won't know about. #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment #WeAreBillionStrong

A3 I don't think we can over-estimate the importance of lived experience in creating an inclusive recruitment process, and ensuring accessibility throughout. The process needs to work for a wide range of impairments #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment #WeAreBillionStrong

That's the key - working with people who have lived experience, not only of disability, but have local knowledge of language, culture, and the specific challenges and support for disabled people in that country

Absolutely, Debra - we talk about 'disabled people', and 'not-yet-disabled people'! 83% of disabled people weren't born with their conditions - this could happen to anyone at any time #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment #WeAreBillionStrong

A2 It's really important that global job boards don't just account for language translation, but also the culture in each country with regard to disability. Approaches vary greatly from country to country #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment

That's a really good point, Neil. Disabled candidates are unlikely to apply unless they know the employer really wants their talent. Make it clear through how and where you advertise your vacancies #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment

A1 Employers need to ensure that disabled candidates are able to request any adjustments/accommodations they may need at every stage in the recruitment process, without feeling they may be disadvantaged in any way #AXSChat #InclusiveEmployment

We believe that all disabled people who CAN, and WANT to work, should have the same opportunities that non-disabled people have (but those who can't, or for whom working would made their conditions worse, should be fully supported to live as decent and independent a life as possible)
