Public art calls should be about qualifications first, not free design work from every applicant. If a project requires concepts, finalists should be selected first and compensated. Too often, artists give away ideas for nothing. Who else has dealt with this? #PublicArt

15 years later, I’m still at it. Being a full-time artist is tough, and I’ve wanted to quit many times. But the opportunities and support I’ve had made it possible. This journey isn’t mine alone—try new things; you might find a small elephant... and maybe a few whales.
