The prepaid card is typically a last resort because of how unreliable it is for online transactions, and how annoying they are to actually anonymize.

Those are regularly rejected by online payment processors, and are actually pretty difficult to truly anonymize. The store you bought it in probably has cameras, the phone in your pocket is tracking you to the store, your car probably is too, and so are the Flock cameras on the route to the store.

Good thread on staying anonymous with Proton. Proton isn't perfect, but it's still a good service for radicals if you know how to use it, and not to trust it with your PII.

Don't give Proton (or any company) your CC, IP address, phone number, or name if you don't want it handed over to cops.

Don't trust any email provider with your credit card information, IP address, or phone number. Don't expect Tuta to fight government orders on your behalf. All of these companies will comply rather than go out of existence, so you need to make sure they don't have your PII to begin with.
