Yes, Bsky feels like a refuge of freedom compared to IG, & I hope the community of photographers & models here will continue to grow - but other platforms alternatives for free expression will hopefully evolve as well & be most welcome. Most never gain viable size.

Agree 100% with all your points.

Agree - the main limitation for us photographers is that the models largely haven’t joined BlueSky yet. Even those who’ve set up accounts are rarely here, but still spend their time daily on IG (in spite of the nightmarish hassles it gives them), for the business contacts & big audiences are there.

Yes, seems to basically be the IG story, in some version, of everybody in this part of the photogr. community. Both models & photographers, if they don't get their profiles deleted even when following all guidelines, are pushed quietly into a corner through shadow-banning to minimize their exposure.

3/ Sadly, Instagram, an exploitative, perverted & harmful (especially to youth) version of what social communication media should be, is so dominant in the photography community (bc it is image-centered), that one must keep a presence for communication. But my presence will be nominal from now on.

2/ Bottom line IMO: Instagram, w its unwillingness to provide effective filters like Bluesky to help people avoid seeing inappropriate/unwanted content, & using random censorship beyond their guidelines, is no place for people specializing in artistic nude photography to showcase any relevant work.

1/ Yesterday Instagram permanently deleted my IG profile of 14 years. I only had a modest following (1716 people) but ia loss as a main way of keeping in touch w models & fellow photographers. This has happened to most of my model & photographer friends in the art nude genre on IG. Very disruptive.

Canadian model Olivia Preston in our outdoor natural beauty nude photoshoot in Arizona years ago. Here we simply used a large metal door of a ranch equipment shed out in the desert as the backdrop, & the indirect sunlight of the Arizona midday sun reflecting off concrete as the sole lighting source.
