had my final biopsy today and it was awful—0/10, do not recommend!!!! I'd prepped heavily for the first and was relieved at how nbd it was but this latter one was a much larger excision with two sets of stitches, a longer procedure, and overall deeply miserable. feeling bad. :)

this thread got away from me but I'm emotional at being able to put down a line on a page with a dying brush pen and not fear I've disappointed the world or revealed myself as an imposter—my twenties were full of so much shame! I'm glad that is daily ceasing to be the case. I love my mistakes. :)

pain has been the center of my life for over a decade and so I've had to go very near it if I want to be near myself—& behind this scrim obscuring my life, I saw my life again. I'm no longer interested in being cruel to myself nor do I want calcification. when pain is porous, play & desire are too.

much of this also came from getting very sick and not getting better, the subsequent years spent in unending pain and fatigue; a body at its edge delimits inconsistencies in one's obsessions and desires. I've found that being forced to relinquish the hitherto unquestioned future clarified my wants.

everything in my life, especially my art practice and process, only deepened in both scope and sensation once I pivoted from perfection and goodness as salvific; when I am able to draw and "fail" without condemnation, I am enticed by the boundary of what I don't yet know; what is beyond me beckons!

I used to be terribly cruel to myself my entire life and now I am not, but it has been a good decade of reckoning with the cruelty and cptsd from my childhood and caring for young Han. I still lapse into familiar tracks but no longer haunt those awful groves reciting litanies of my supposed sins.

I've been doing quick studies with a brush pen before bed and the looseness is helping me be less critical towards myself; I'm very harsh on myself (ah) and can fixate on technical accuracy. with a pen, I know I will make mistakes so when I do, it's an invitation towards curiosity. my focus shifts!
