A page from "Laidly, Loathly" by Jack MacConnachie for Right Villainous. the images show a child climbing from a house's chimney and running away to sleep in the woods. the text reads: it's me. in the stories, the changeling flies out with the hearth smoke when it is revealed. i never did manage to fly again. i think story-teller is another word for liar." another child finds them. the text reads - child: i don't understand. i thought i was your only child. parent: and you are. YOU were supposed to be gone. you can stay - but keep out of the house. and you must behave. changeling: behave as what?

A page from a comic book "Laidly, Loathly" showing an arrow being drawn and shot at a deer. the deer runs away. the text reads "i should have known not to loose that arrow. it was an unusual kind of deer. and the old road is not frequented by many men or beasts. and the buck just stepped out and stood there, watching me back. waiting for the arrow."

the next page of the comic "Laidly, Loathly". the deer runs through a toadstool ring. the arrow sticks out of its shoulder. the archer stops before entering the ring. the text says "and so i should have known not to chase it".

the third page from "Laidly, Loathly". the archer destroys the mushroom ring. he follows the deer and finds a faun instead, with the arrow in its shoulder. the archer says "that's my arrow. why did you let me shoot you?" (I know why. it is a lure) Faun: i didn't see that you were sidhe. you may have your arrow back".

Here's the first three pages from Laidly, Loathly. I'm mainly a printmaker but have been exploring drawing and collage more due to RSI in my wrist and fingers! This was an enjoyable project. It took about two years on and off, and I had to draw some of it with my left hand.

"LAIDLY, LOATHLY is a new folk tale inspired by British and Irish folklore. Changeling Ocke and monster Methe meet at arrow-point, and find their lives entangled from Samhain to Lammas as the years turn, over the course of centuries."

Petition: Protect hares and their young from shooting during the breeding season We call on the Government to stop the shooting of hares during their peak breeding season, by establishing a legally enforceable close season for hares in England and Wales, from 1st February to 30th ...

Did you read (or hear on R4) Chloe Dalton's Raising Hare? Do you love #hares ? Would you like to help their survival in England by establishing a 'closed season'? You've still a few more hours to sign this petition. Shooting hares in the breeding season leaves dependent young to starve to death.
