its been genuinely so funny that the two massive β€œscandals” for james talarico so far is that he follows a few onlyfans girls on socials, and that he respects trans people. sounds like a normal guy to me

What do you want to bet this little tantrum on the WaPo's opinion page is because someone ahead of Professor Jakub Grygiel in the queue at some coffee shop had an elaborate coffee order and he hasn't been able to let it go ever since

β€œModernity, for all its thrilling innovations, brought us not just the bloody French Revolution but also individually tailored goods […] in loud disdain for the importance of cultural unity” so true bestie nothing good or politically unifying ever came out of the French Revolution

Reminder: The cost of the sun and wind will never increase because of conflict. While oil prices rise by almost 50% in the U.S. - sunlight remains free and abundant, forever. β˜€οΈ

A dark and killing cloud over Tehran And over a shamed America

America and Israel are in essence waging chemical war in Iran, filling the air above its metropolis with toxic smoke after lighting its oil storage depots on fire.

The Latest Republican Efforts to Make It Harder to Vote in the Midterms Donald Trump is pushing the SAVE America Act, but there are other measures to undermine the electoral system.

From the always on-point Sue Halpern, a good catalogue of GOP efforts to disenfranchise voters. It's what they've got left.

Do people really like being trapped in an autocentric system? We talked with the authors of a new study showing that on the contrary, nearly 1 in 5 American car owners is β€œstrongly interested” in living car-free, and another 40 percent are open to the idea. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a...

there’s a structural reason here. mamdani’s response was to take an opportunity to make content - and therefore give the rest of the media some easy meta-content - and turn it down. he put governing ahead of content. our political media hates nothing more than someone who denies them easy content.

These articles almost always include some line that's like "To be fair, Mamdani's predecessors did exactly the same thing in similar moments" before quoting some Manhattan Institute ghoul who says why it's actually different.

The "e-bikes are cheating" trope is just "protected bike lanes are unnecessary because I rode all over the place without them" for a new era: A mix of gatekeeping and survivorship bias that allows the person invoking it to defend their perceived status.

When the US govt terminated the National Nature Asst, @phillevin.bsky.social + the author team were determined not to let that stop them.

They re-organized, set up an advisory committee, found funding…and now the brand new Nature Record is open for public comment. πŸ‘πŸŒ³πŸ‘πŸŒ²
