I love this, because 16 year old me was dumb in a similar way. Kudos to Kat for just pointing out that people can change (and that’s a good thing)!

prosecute us just for speaking. In times like these, when the government hates what I’m saying publicly, I’m reminded of how important that 1st amendment right is.
Now, direct incitement to violence, speech with the intention to induce a public panic, those things are offenses and can be
to provide liberty and justice to people who came here because they were oppressed (and in turn oppressed and slaughtered the indigenous peoples who were already here).
We‘re far from perfect, but we have the freedom here to speak our minds, even if we say horrific shit, and our government can’t
Most post industrial nations weren’t founded in the way the US was, and if we’re speaking specifically about European nations, they are far smaller and less culturally divided. The US (the white imperialist US) was founded on the ideas of freedom of press, speech, and religion, with the intention

Mentality inculcated through the American Exceptionalism we teach our kids, we focus only on our own rights and not our responsibilities towards one another.
And it’s not all of us. Minnesota is a good example of what happens when communities recognize both rights and responsibilities.
In my opinion it’s dumb, but the US really likes to cling to its founder’s ideals. The problem with that is we tend to forget that rights must, by necessity, be accompanied by responsibilities towards society.
Due to the (completely delusional) “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” individualist
Because our free expression of religion and free speech are protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution. Loomer’s speech is protected just like mine is when I say she’s a stupid, attention seeking biotch.

Can we please get a President who doesn’t order military attacks based on the last conversation he had with someone who flatters him? For fuck sake.

Housing first. We need to keep people housed, then solve the rest of the problem.
It becomes exponentially more challenging to provide support and shelter once people are unhoused. Keeping people in their homes ensures the future challenges we face are surmountable.
90% of evictions in MN are for nonpayment of rent. I did a sample a week ago and found the avg nonpayment eviction in Hennepin County would take $5,122 to stop. Studies (before the high inflation of the past few years) suggest stopping an eviction saves $6,832 in public costs. It just makes sense

I just spent my first morning on vacation calling my congress people and telling them we don’t want nor need a war in Iraq.
I’ve been dealing with a federal occupation in my home state for months, finally get a chance to get away and spend time with family, and now this. I’m over it. Fuck.
Just got a message from South High saying “We currently have requests totaling $33,965 for rent and we have $7500 available tomorrow. Please try to share the gofundme widely! Thanks”
Well, that simply will not do. I'll match the first $900. Please help my fellow South High families if you can! 🖤🧡🖤

So the Cabinet is just spending their time posting fanfic about themselves on social media now.
Fucking fantastic.
I’m so over this circus. I miss the days when our government actually, you know, fucking governed.
He keeps underestimating us.
He has no concept of our capacity for care— he’s never cared about anyone but himself.
In Minnesota we know that we all do better when we all do better. And we’ll make good & damn sure we all do better.
Now can we get an escrow account for federal tax payments?
I could swear Paine drove a Fit. 😅

#FinstadWatch
Do you think #BradFinstad owes an explanation to the families of the victims who died when an American Airlines jet collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter, who strongly supported #HR6222 / #S2503 #RotorAct
#RepFinstad voted NO and it FAILED by ONE vote.

Please support our state!
The state could create an escrow account for businesses to place federal tax payments in—hold them in trust for the federal government until such a time as the federal government starts doing its job according to the Constitution and federal law.
Seriously sick of taxation without representation.
I could swear that GenX was raised on movies that taught us letting computers manage warfare was a horrible idea. Or at least that’s what I took from those movies. Maybe I got the wrong message?

Really sick of my congressional rep taking handouts from my tax dollars while I watch farmers around me lose their farms.
Maybe, just maybe, our representatives shouldn’t be able to get bail out checks from our tax dollars for supporting the policies that led to the crisis in the first place?
They’ve clearly never met a progressive left Minnesota woman.
I would wish them luck, but it seems wiser to wish them speedy healing.
So Minnesota, are we ready to hold a tax strike yet?
Any state legislators brave enough to set up an escrow account to hold our federal taxes until such time as the federal government meets its obligations to its citizens?
I’m wondering if she knows what the effects of actually being educated are.
Look, shifting hormones in any way screws with our homeostasis—as a perimenopausal women, I know this all too well. But hormones, whether HRT or BC, help our bodies establish a new, and sometimes life saving, homeostasis.
