I don't even remember all the speculative ecology I came up with for this lad at the time I invented him. My documentation in my creative processes were horrifically poor during 2024, but the one thing I do distinctly remember with this piece was it starting as a sketch on a separate page, drawing a random fractal design, and then using that as a glorified "cross the lines between the dots" coloring page book.

It's just a weird little guy

Spinoaurus kinda sorta became the mascot of the relationship with my partner. I was desperate for date ideas when I realized "Dammit, I *like* her" hit me like a truck until I saw this temporary exhibit in my feed. Who knew a 100 million year old non-avian dinosaur would be a great wingman

Chose to depict S aegypticus for this Ink25 prompt. I don't recall off-hand which specimen(s) this display model was based upon, but SNMNH back in I think '22, '23, had this animal as their centerpiece in a temporary Morocco fossil display

So with the baggage of Gundam Wing behind it, and the general choppiness of the OVA, I was seriously debating wether to put Endless Waltz in A or B tier. It was certainly more succint, with what there being only One enemy faction, but...

YEAH, NO. THE MOVIE FIXED IT. ABSOLUTE A TIER.

I think, if Wufei hadn't been Wufei and the movie had packed a bit more of an emotional punch, it could have been an easy S tier.

Dislikes:

I don't like the Katoki redesigns other than Wing Zero and Heavyarms Custom. (I don't have much of an opinion on the pre-upgrade redesigns as they barely show up).
Whatever the fuck was going on with the World President.
Wufei.
A definite lack of child defenestration.

So let's see. On the likes.

A much more straightforward storytelling with a concise theme.
Gorgerous animation.
Duo's face.
The moment when Heero gets in Wing Zero with the themesong blasting.
Much needed backstory for the boys.
DOUBLE BEAM CANNON.

On the subject of comprehensibility, I wonder if the reveal at the second to last episode of Wing that Operation Meteor was changed at the last second, as explored here in EW, was a jab at the script changes that happened midway through production.

But that's a story for another day.

Ok now they're kinda rubbing it in. I'd have prefered if the scene had ended by now, and then we saw the throng of people on the battlefield.

Still a huge improvement!

The movie version, with just a few scenes added and quality of life changes, is so much better than the OVA what the hell.
