I've been rereading THE GRAPES OF WRATH for the 1st time in 25 years or so, & even tho it takes place during the depression, the book is super relevant today. Relevant in the broke working class world of today

Brilliant is the only word to use for Steinbeck. He sure could put down a line

The book I'm most excited about in 2026 is Willy Vlautin's THE LEFT AND THE LUCKY. Definitely my favorite living author. #books

Next Library trip need to check out & revisit Steinbeck. After all these years, still a master of the human condition.

"If you're in trouble, or hurt or need - go to the poor people. They're the only ones that'll help - the only ones.”

― John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath.

Still rings true today, especially in #trumpsamerica

The next interview in my series for BULL FICTION is horror author, Laurel Hightower. If you haven't read Laurel, you should.

This one was a lot of fun πŸ¦«πŸ’–

Happy Birthday to the forever brilliant, Carson McCullers:

"I must go home periodically to renew my sense of horror."

THE PLEDGE; THE HOUSE OF YHE DEVIL; Synecdoche, New York.

He had amazing range. I read due to being like 6ft 7 or around there, he was often cast as villains. It's true, but he brought something unique to each one. His small part in HEAT was large.

Going to have a Duvall double feature tonight. Been a while since I watched THE APOSTLE, need a rewatch. Shit, I remember seeing it in the theater in 98 or 99 when it came out. I was mesmerized completely. It's such a brilliant film.

I'd like to remind everyone of the cameo he played. No lines, just a priest on a swing set in INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Creepy as hell.

Breaks my heart because he was an artistic hero. I can't pick a favorite. He was a god on stage.

I wouldn't know where to begin. He was a MASTER of craft. One of the most human, deepest, bad ass actors/artists of my lifetime. BUT this one here, masterclass in emotional honesty.

RIP, Original.

Ill get to new interviews, columns, and back to my own work eventually

It's weird being working class. That once meant something. Now it means you're fucked

Sallis on noir : "there is no moral order save which a man creates from himself. Like high art, these stories worked hard to unfold the lies society tells us and the lies we tell ourselves".

Shit! RIP, James Sallis.

I fucking love his work. He was one of a kind. DRIVE & DRIVEN are both masterclass.

I doubt the post I'm seeing is some kind of hoax. It's on wiki now too. His new book is dropping on Feb 10th & I've been excited as fuck for it.

RIP, Genius.
