I spent most of my life as a JW. In hindsight, I can't believe it took me so long to self-deprogram, but in the moment it felt like one of the hardest things I'd ever done.

I know I'm way late to the party on this post, but I just stumbled across it and *wow* to image #2. That pose, that camera angle, the framing... really powerful stuff.

She still has plenty of fans, of course. (Depressingly too many.) But I legitimately doubt she could win statewide office again. Hell, the last time she had a credible Democratic opponent, she only won by 3 points, and that was before she sent goons to teargas preschools.

Same. So many people around here talk about going south for the winter, but I want my seasons. (Vacation? Yes! Who doesn't want some sun in January? But missing the whole winter...?) The mountains are it, man, no matter the time of the year.

Amazing wildflowers! Paintbrushes have a special place in my heart. The only place I've seen them that thick was along the Teton Crest Trail a few years ago.

It was more like a choose-your-own-adventure thing than a defined trail. Lots of fun - hope you get the chance to check it out! This seems like a perfect time of year to do it: excellent weather, and better yet, fewer people.

Fiery Furnace! A few years ago we got one of the permits to day hike through there. We felt like mice in a very toasty maze.

I've been *very* bad about sharing my work - which will probably definitely continue - but hey, I'm in a productive mood! This was from a shoot with friend Kara a couple summers ago in the Badlands. We went out just after a thunderstorm and managed to catch a rainbow for a bit.

The people rescued this week weren't climbers - they were hikers, trekking to basecamp & villages on the Chinese side. Almost no one summits in the fall. But lots of hikers because it's a long holiday week in China, so crowds+lousy weather=bad.

But! Yes, overtourism sucks & humans are awful.
