Sussex PCC threatens legal action over no confidence vote Katy Bourne faced scrutiny after attending a march against housing asylum seekers in Crowborough.

The role of a PCC is expected to be politically neutral and focused on keeping residents safe.

The irony of the person responsible for police resources attending a protest and using up those very resources in this way is not lost on anyone...

These are just some examples of how women’s health has too often been overlooked and deprioritised. The Liberal Democrats are pushing to change this and ensure it's taken far more seriously.

I also met with Lobular Breast Cancer UK to speak about the research gaps into the disease, despite being the second most common form of breast cancer. I am proud to work closely with the Lobular Moon Shot Project, who are campaigning tirelessly to secure greater research funding in this area.

Earlier this week, I met with The Endometriosis Foundation to discuss the urgent need to raise awareness of the condition. On average, women wait around 9 years and 4 months for a diagnosis, with many visiting their GP repeatedly before endometriosis is even suspected.

🗣️ On Monday, I spoke in support of residents in Horsham and across the country who signed the petition calling for protections around local elections.

Our democracy is fundamental, and it must be properly protected.

🗣️ My Spring Forecast response:

MP campaigns for expansion of health services at Horsham Hospital Concerns over pressures on A&E services have led to a campaign for the expansion of healthcare at Horsham Hospital.

I’m continuing to push for more healthcare services closer to Horsham, so residents don’t have to keep travelling further for treatment.

LEAP Small Business Grants LEAP funding is aimed at start-ups and small businesses who are looking to establish or future-proof their business.

🍃 Horsham District Council has announced a new round of Green LEAP grant funding for local businesses. Applications open on Friday, 10th April 2026!

Businesses are advised to start preparing now, as they will be required to include a detailed plan in their application.

Ukrainian family denied UK asylum told to use noise-cancelling headphones for child to block out bombs Thousands of Ukrainians were welcomed to the UK in 2022 after Russia invaded. But Home Office figures show there has since been a dramatic reduction in the numbers now being approved for asylum.

I've spoken to Sky News about a Ukrainian family denied asylum and told their child could use noise-cancelling headphones to block out the sound of bombs. This is simply unacceptable.

🤝 Great to join Arla Foods in Parliament to discuss workforce challenges in farming and speak to David about the impacts on the dairy and meat sectors.

Farming can be an incredibly rewarding career and is essential to the UK’s food security and long-term prosperity.

🗣️ Yesterday, I pressed the government on when we will actually see legislation to tackle the harms of social media.

We cannot allow years of delay; the risks to children’s mental health and well-being are happening now.

I was delighted to join the Your Horsham Networking Breakfast recently!

It was great to meet local businesses and the careers service to hear firsthand about the challenges they face in recruitment. Thank you for having me and sharing your perspectives.

Officers are considering further works and engaging with sat nav providers, after concerns that some directions may not accurately reflect the road layout.

Thank you to everyone who raised concerns about the Bar Lane crossover on the A24. I’ve now received a response from West Sussex County Council.

While this isn’t a solution yet, I’m pleased the issue is being treated as a priority, and I will keep residents updated on further developments.

Today, my Liberal Democrat colleagues and I will vote to protect children from harmful social media platforms.

Our message to social media giants is clear: if your platform spreads harmful content or relies on addictive algorithms, it is not safe for children.

No British citizen should be denied the right to come home because of these badly communicated and ill-thought-out changes.

Post-16 and Post-19 Transport Policy Statement 2026 to 2027 Overview: Each year local authorities are required to consult young people of sixth form age and their parents as well as other stakeholders on the Post-16 and Post-19 Transport Policy Statement…

🚌 The council has released a consultation on the Post-16 and Post-19 Transport Policy Statement.

This sets out transport support for young people and learners with EHCPs to get to school, college or training.

Today, the government has published its Schools White Paper, setting out significant changes to SEND.

The system needs a complete overhaul of its setup and funding, and any proposals must be properly implemented and supported with the right resources.
