Mel Brooks was absolutely merciless there.

...and after a few generations of that forced omission, folks can blindly jump from
"we don't talk about __"
to
"__ isn't really a factor in life as I know it."
(Which is partly how you get people saying with 100% certainty "the NFL wasn't political" or "Superman was never about politics".)
Completely agree it's practiced in service of maintaining current power structures.
Teaching the kids it's bad manners to talk about a specific policy or party or candidate would be a survival strategy when your ability to work can be cut off by someone who doesn't like your politics.

The same mug, but on the other side someone has drawn the frog sitting up on its haunches, holding out both hands in a gesture of refusal, with its face turned away from a pair of featureless shoes. It is labelled "Frog wants no clogs".

A photo of Gavin Newsom at the 2023 California gubernatorial swearing in ceremony. He is a white man, appears to be in relatively good health, with a full head of brunette hair, slicked back from his forehead, wearing a dark blue suit and matching tie with a white shirt. He stands behind a podium with the state seal of California on it, and is looking to his left.
A photo of Christian Bale portraying the titular character in the 2000 film 'American Psycho'. He is a white man, who appears to be in relatively good health, with a full head of brunette hair, slicked back from his forehead, wearing a dark blue suit and matching tie with a white shirt.
Unfortunately I've got these two faces stuck in the same mental file, and I always confuse them.

Happy International Women's Day!
Remember, when in doubt, do as Stagecoach Mary Fields did, and either headbutt, shoot it, set it on fire, or let your horses trample it.
"She broke more noses than any other person in central Montana."
That's kinda... perfect.
08.03.2026 00:54 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0A digitally drawn homage to the George Herriman comic strip Krazy Kat. Starting left of frame we see yellow Ignatz Mouse having just thrown a brick which is sailing across the center of the frame and in another instant will bash the oblivious Krazy Kat (a blue bipedal cartoon cat wearing a red scarf) in the back of the head as he walks innocently to the right. Everything is drawn in rough black pen and colored in pale washes. A speech bubble from Ignatz reads ‘Maybe it will…’, the word ’Happen’ appears in the whooshing trail of the sailing brick, and a final speech bubble belonging to the Kat reads ‘…Today’.

Maybe to allow central security to lock folks out of *everything* if they get fired.
"You have 15 minutes to vacate the premises, security will escort you to clear out your desk, you may have one (1) document box for personal effects. And no, you may not do a last poo in the company's toilets."
Hurrah! this is the way a fellow feels when he’s going to Davy Jones—all a rush down an endless inclined plane!

[We see a close up of a young white male, tanned, white teeth, coiffed hair clearly an influencer on social media. It is an image such as you see when social media posts are shown on the news. In the corner of the screen is named a location: DUBAI. He is staring slightly off-camera for several silent panels of the comic strip. His eyes move slightly. He is having a thought.] From off-screen a newsreader’s commentary comes: NEWSREADER: Extraordinary images here of an expat in Dubai [The influencer’s eybrows raise slightly] …Having their first ever geopolitical thought. [CUT TO a BBC news scene. The BBC newsreader CLIVE MYRIE is talking to an interviewee next to the screen showing the social media influencer’s face. The interviewee’s name is David Jones]. CLIVE MYRIE: To explain the significance of this moment we’re joined by David Jones, our Expat Thoughts correspondent DAVID JONES: Clive, this is momentous It was caught on film at the end of an Instagram post titled: ‘Dubai Is Brilliant’. [Pointing at the screen, the influencer’s expression still the same] You can clearly see in the eyebrows here, the dawning realisation that there *might* be something in the world beyond his dickhead self. It marks a *huge* departure from all the Dubai Expat’s previous thoughts. CLIVE MYRIE: Which are…? DAVID JONES: You've Got To Get Yourself Out Here Mate, Everything Is So Clean, I Don't Have To Pay Taxes, I Am Incurious As To Why I Do Not Have To Pay Taxes, and Spa. CLIVE MYRIE: And might we see an expansion of these new Thoughts in coming days? DAVID JONES: I think we can expect to see: “I Deserve To Be Airlifted By A Country I Pay No Tax To” CLIVE MYRIE: Mmm. UK chums, this is a full five-alarm fire. Write your MP, call them, whatever. The government’s own survey showed 97% of us wanted copyright strengthened, and those abject fucks are weakening it anyway to appease snake-oil grifters and thieves

Hmm, it's easy to overlook the assumptions about appearance and to make a careless jump to casual discrimination.
I think I'd rather not do that.
Thanks for the spot.
