Cet ouvrage examine les obstacles auxquels font face les étudiant·e·s migrant·e·s pour accéder équitablement aux études postsecondaires au Canada. En s’appuyant sur un programme de transition novateur mis en place à l’Université York, les autrices analysent comment les politiques migratoires et les structures institutionnelles créent des « frontières » au sein même de l’enseignement supérieur. À travers les notions de frontières, de contre-récits et d’universités sanctuaires, Villegas et Aberman mettent en lumière les stratégies de résistance développées par des étudiant·e·s exclu·e·s en raison de leur statut migratoire. Elles montrent comment ces personnes ont créé des communautés de soutien dans les salles de classe, contesté les discours dominants et transformé des espaces éducatifs en lieux de solidarité et d’appartenance.
