The worst thing is, and I get that this is entirely a me problem, but with my current setup I *could* just plug in the USB cable and it would be good enough.

But knowing that the thing isn't working as it's supposed to fills me with too much frustration so I can't do it...

Apologies, I'm just in a very frustrated mood right now

They did in fact tell me "oh it's not compatible with Linux", until I pointed out the product description says otherwise. So that doesn't exactly give me confidence.

Alternatively I could go ask on Reddit and have people call me unintelligent. That's also an option.

I guess I should contact customer support again. I just dread having to explain it all over again. It doesn't seem like their customer support even have the knowledge to help anyway.

Still not getting that XP-pen shortcut remote to work properly. It only works if I connect it through the USB cable, which makes it distinctly not wireless...

It may be because I'm using Linux but... it says on the box it's supposed to work with Linux, so not my fault expecting that to be true...

Godot dropped a major update AGAIN? Feels like they're doing it every other month at this point. It's genuinely impressive

In more fun news, I'm now at the point where I'm trying to learn how to set up the game's main quest and story to work properly!

Like, quest flags and dialogue and stuff.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but learning new stuff is fun

This is relevant because I wanted to try that "precision mode" setting. When I select it, it switches to either monitor1 or monitor2 mode, and so it basically doesn't work at all

Trying to figure out why my CP-pen tablet is only working properly when work area is set to "all monitors", despite the fact that it's only interacting with the bottom monitor (the screen on the tablet).

If I actually switch to the tablet being the work area, it only uses the bottom half of it

so now things are way simpler. And as an added bonus, this should improve performance a bit. Though I kinda doubt the difference will be noticeable. But more performance is always better

yeah, you don't have to do any of that. Just put a region in the audio file and zero coding required 😅

I'd made a script where I could define where the loop should be for each song, and made it start a timer each time the song played to know when to loop it... even had an additional audio stream playing so it wouldn't cut off reverb and stuff...

It was only yesterday I realized I do not, in fact, have to write custom code to make our game's music loop properly. You can just put a region in the waw and Godot will know where the loop begins and ends lol

Yep! We're making one of those!

Well, our game needs animations of some kind! Erin is the one who's been doing most of the art, but then I try to implement it as animations in the engine. It's a team effort ^^

Yes, I don't know how to tell the shader where to do the thing I want it to do. No it's not because I don't know how to define a vector saying where something is, I just don't even understand how to tell the shader "do your thing in this location"

metaphorically banging my head against the keyboard trying to figure out how the get a Godot shader to do what I want it to do.

Also feeling embarrassed because apparently the thing I don't understand is so basic that people can't even comprehend what it is I need help with

20.11.2025 17:47 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Someone told me to just put a layer in front of the thing I want to be invisible. This would work if I didn't have any other objects in the scene but that isn't the case

Basically, I want the opposite of ClipChildren. Like, I want to make the texture to be not drawn within an area, and I don't want it to be a child of that area

trying to figure out how to mask a sprite in Godot. It's harder than you think!

19.11.2025 13:05 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

okay so the silhouette thing could be because I used "modulation" to test something in some animation that was no longer used, but...

Seems like the "determinstic" checkbox also just breaks the editor if I use it.

I don't know if it's something I want to use either way but... yeah

18.11.2025 08:27 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

unchecking the box didn't undo it so that's fun...

I checked the "deterministic" box in the AnimationPlayer and it somehow turned the player into a ghost

discovering that making the "enter" prompt a child of the train animations have consequences when the train is turned around

Though I would like to use smaller light for specific spots later. But that comes at a performance cost, so we'll see. I'll have to look into it more, but it's not a priority. We can do without the lights for now

I'm quite happy about this. Thought I will try to see what can be done, even if I can't solve the problem, we don't actually need the lighting effects. The parallax backgrounds are much more important for making the game look nice
