Weirdly Costco seem to be trying to off load cheap pork & beef in the UK right now. Their normally expensive (but otherwise excellent) meat is usually labelled prominently “British Beef”. The stuff I saw yesterday had “imported from USA” in the small print. It’s a tough sell though.

A friend of my daughter’s had a terrible time there after a motorcycle injury, friends & relatives raised many thousands to pay for (mostly American provided ) private surgery.

It was because Humberside covered both the East Riding & the area south of the Humber in Lincolnshire which wasn’t in Yorkshire to start with. I think (can’t remember properly) that Middlesbrough & surrounds were part of East Riding (but possibly North) that were included in Cleveland.

There was no South Riding. South Yorkshire was mostly part of the West Riding. The East Riding initially became part of Humberside, and is now mostly the East Riding again. The White Rose tends to be the only flag.
