This case is horrifying. The man had deferred action, was on a full path to a green card, is a college grad magna cum laude, and ICE arrested him randomly while looking for someone else:

“What do we do?” said one ICE officer, to which another replied “We’re going to take him with us anyway.”

I shouldn't be, but I'm forever surprised and amused when someone will look past the face of their most studiously committed enemy to try to find anyone they *don't* code as a woman and assign all agency in the situation to them.

For every misogynist who obsessively stalks a woman because she grimaced one time and is thus responsible for all his woes, there's another misogynist who misdiagnoses his woes as from a man because he simply cannot fathom that a woman hates his guts and is the one working towards his downfall.

The fact that the US killed scores of people does not erase the fact that Iran also killed scores of people, even if the US killed several orders of magnitude more people. I don't see why people (Stalinists) are being scandalized that we reserve criticism for the Iranian government.

Anarchists correctly claim that all states are structurally coercive & violent—a fact so obvious even non-anarchist scholars agree. Anarchists don't claim all states are *equal in power or harm.* Nonetheless, asymmetries in power don't erase weaker states' coercion & violence.
