I would also argue that Garth is a "problem" guy and not just an HPC guy. It's been working in the AI world for quite a while.

However, I still take crap for saying I use it. Every time I write something about NFS, a few just have to tell me that NFS is worthless and I'm a Neanderthal for using it. As if I'm the troll.

NFS was and still is, an awesome capability. It saved my bacon many times. It was so, so useful in my grad work when I could dance between workstations. Then when I started working, it allowed us to share data. Life changing.

For a long time, I loved punch cards. You submitted your deck and waited for it run. In the meantime, you could review your code and make a basketball goal from old cards and a basketball from old print outs and tape. At midnight this was awesome.
