An Update

Now that all contributors have submitted their final pieces, we have begun formatting our fanbook! With the final text weighing in at over 200 pages, our final release date will be announced when we have a better idea of how long formatting takes. +

finally posting some little previews for my pieces in @worldofthedaszine.bsky.social !! it's been a hard and busy summer but these were a joy to work on through all of it (nodding) very excited for everyone to see the final product!!

One bright spot in life rn has been working on my pieces for @worldofthedaszine.bsky.social.
I don’t know how many will make it in to the final book, but I had a great time messing with styles and ended up turning in 8 pieces which is… more than I originally intended. Can’t wait for yall to see!

excerpt from Brother Genitivi’s Travels of a Chantry Scholar about Antivan festival foods: “One of the most common fares are, of course, little breads and pastries meant to be taken with a cup of fine coffee. Particularly, little spiced cookies tasting of ginger and cinnamon, and cut into the shapes of crows; these are appropriately referred to as “cornejitas” which means “little crow” in Antivan. Another notable mention is a sweet bread covered in streusel that cracks in the oven and gives the appearance of a shell. I’m told that these are most popular in northern and coastal Antiva, and the recipe is originally of Rivaini make.”

I must warn you that the Wardens and I parted on less than amicable terms. Isseya’s gift of returning the griffons came with strings—ones that the First Warden was quick to ignore, in favor of his ego and delusions of grandeur. Whatever use my information may be of to you, or to those who seek the safe return of the griffons, I will give it only if they are truly willing to listen. Isseya trusted her legacy to me—not just the griffons, but the reminder that the Wardens betrayed them. That this is an improbable, precious second chance, and there will not be a third. The people in Hossberg speak well of you and your partner, but if your allies are unwilling to face the mistakes of Wardens past, there is nothing I can do to help you, or them. However, the farmers who raise the pigs and collect the truffles rarely occupy the same social standing as the patrons who enjoy the fruit of their labors. Truffles are largely harvested in small patches; enough to consistently maintain a meager living, but nothing beyond that. This leaves many farmers dreaming of the pig who will stumble across a rare cache of truffles large enough that they could elevate their status with the profits. Rumors out of Hossberg suggest that the dish is sometimes made with gingerwort truffles and served at the King’s most exclusive events; officially, the palace chef advises against this practice.

Previously, nations across Thedas found themselves caught up in the relief of a Blight ending— no one thought to question where the dragons vanished to. Though, one might perhaps wonder that the Fereldens did not notice whatever means the Wardens used to transfer such a large corpse from the top of Fort Drakon across the continent to Hossberg. Discovery of the The Cauldron raises many questions: why did the Wardens need to keep all of the corpses? Were they trophies, or for study? Certainly it was not just for the blood, as a single corpse must hold enough blood for all Joinings into eternity. Perhaps which archdemon the blood was drawn from had some significance, or perhaps the makeup of the blood was altered with time, but given the fate of Weisshaupt and the devastation of the Order, it is likely that these questions will never be answered.

These are the only words you need to know in Tevene. Everyone in Tevinter speaks Trade anyway. If you don’t know how to say it, ask me after evening rites and I’ll say it for you. Fasta vass: Fuck everything. Festis bei umo canavarum: I’m fucked. (This one’s supposed to be something about being eaten by a female dog, but that’s not what it means if you say it.) Incaensor: What you call someone who is behaving badly or acting above their station. (If your slave turns out to be able to do magic, that’s the word for it. Or your servant or whatever you have in Nevarra instead of slaves.) Kaffas: Shit. Vishante kaffas: Someone at my old Circle said it means “you shit on my tongue,” but it makes more sense the other way around so that’s how I say it. Rattus: Means rat, I think. People mostly use it for elves, but you can say it about anyone who’s far enough below you. Venhedis: Go to the Void. Careful, there’s this elven word that’s almost the same, but I don’t know what it means. So I guess don’t say this one if you’re talking to an elf. Or else just don’t talk to elves, I suppose.
