I'm also thinking about the continuation of surveillance. How ICE agents, Border Patrol, Police, etc... are constantly using new technology to surveillance people. And how the work of the artists and people alike must never stop. As new surveillance tech is being created, so must be the art, 📖, 🎥

Last year for my artist-in-residence at NJCU (New Jersey City University) at did a talk about surveillance and art: From slave patrol to CCTV. And how artists of color used their artwork to fight and change the narrative.

As I reflect on that work, and the work of many others.

Absolutely. Two weeks ago, I was at my local library and the staff were in a meeting about what to do if ICE enters the library and how to protect the patrons. Libraries are very important public institutions.

A couple of years ago I wanted to get into collage making. So, I brought a bunch of Ebony & Jet magazines. And, I found this one with Jesse Jackson on the cover. I saw a lot of photographs of Rev Jesse Jackson, but this one right here! Powerful, defiant, beautiful.
