It's 45 years since the best ever account of an attempted crime.
From the Edinburgh Evening News, 18 August 1978.
While they were waiting at a bus stop in Clermiston, Mr and Mrs Daniel Thirsty were threatened by Mr Robert Clear. 'He demanded that I give him my wifes purse,
said Mr Thirsty. 'Telling him that the purse was in her basket, I bent down, put my hands up her skirt, detached her artificial leg and hit him over the head with it. It was not my intention to do anything more than frighten him oft, but unhappily for us all, he died?

An image for episode 4 of The Goth Boss Podcast with the title: Burnout - What it is, what causes it, and how to recover.
This week's podcast ep is a vulnerable one. I get honest about my experiences with burnout and offer insights on what causes it and how to recover.
I really hope you're not suffering from burnout, but if you are, hopefully this episode helps.

How To Write Unmaintainable Code
To
Reading about the latest fun AI programming trends like "prompt injection attacks" and rogue agents deleting repos brings to mind this wonderful tome on writing unmaintainable code and I wonder what this would be like if an AI trained on these principles alone

It is absolutely wild that it is not a commonly discussed part of the AI industry that the "leader" in generative AI repeatedly puts out broken dogshit like this?

I remember making animations in two colours because you could have a few hundred frames to animate with. Can't remember how many frames you got with the *full* colour palette - maybe 16? Tried to make a version of the helicopter scene from Mission Impossible 😂

Had to take a step back and remind myself:
- I crushed my original goals

But by 10:30am, all four were done and dusted. 🥳
Great start, right?
Then I spent the rest of the day wrestling with a new task I hadn't even planned to touch. Made barely any visible progress, and ended the day feeling... unproductive and deflated 😅

So I turned up on Monday with four bugs that needed fixing. I figured they’d take all day - maybe I’d solve one or two, since one of them had already kicked my butt most of Thursday...

Some choice is great, as my approach may change depending on the time of day. Really like short overview videos to get some bearings. Really like examples I can pick apart and break. And our old friend, documentation (including examples if we're talking code/framework). Then it's tutorials! :)
