Definitely the same in Aberdeen. We have a (very) high correlation btw flags and areas of social deprivation

Our areas of deprivation also tend to have higher levels of non white/non UK born residents ...and such flags may (may not?) be sending out a message to them.

Yes ...understood. It's a clear difficulty going forward on many fronts - what if an aggressive minority opt out of 'the rule of law'? What do we do about it?

If they took flags down inside 24 hrs (as my signs!!) the issue is far less public. But Councils don't have resource to react quickly

I've got some experience of attaching things to lampposts via zip ties (with Council permission). I've left signs up 24 hrs after event and had them removed/binned by the Council.

We could just have consistent rules that are applied consistently!

Haha. I had this very odd conversation in the TI Centre. This on is Gamla Ullevi (literally Old Ullevi).

Hope you're having a good trip. City had massive metro construction in 2022 so not sure that will be ongoing.

All understood. In 1983 the Dons played in what was known as 'new Ullevi'. In recent years they replaced old ullevi, but guy in Tourist Info said locals still call the stadium we played in 'new' and the one that's actually new 'old' (even if old was replaced) 🤯

That was my understanding from Tourist information folk!!

As I understood it there have been 3 Ulliveis. The original (now gone and replaced by 21st stadium) was old one. ECWC one was built for WC and was new one. But since old one is now replaced by a properly new one locals still seemed to call the brand new one 'old' (it being on the site of old one).

The new ullevi ...Not to be confused with the more recently built old ullevi 🤔

I was a bit confused by this when I told the tourist information the #1 attraction I was in town to see!!

The initial surge to be Twitter - Fascism did cool off quite swiftly. The level of traffic/interaction is pretty modest and feels like it declined (I can see some definitely went back to the other place). I haven't had any nasty stuff! But also not much stuff!!!

I've been in Central Belt a lot the last two years - the contrast in bus/train use is vast. The car culture is not the same. Sometimes Abz/NE is different to other places (transport is definitely one such area)!
