“Anatomy of the Spirit” by Caroline Myss, Ph. D was recommended to me a few years ago. I finally found a pristine copy at the local used bookshop last Friday. Its principles have already given me insight into alleviating some of my chronic gut issues.

I agree. It's definitely an offshoot of non-violent principles.

A conservative Christian woman approached me today. She asked me if I was living up to Jesus Christ’s standards when I affirmed I knew Him. Despite her looking me up and down like I was the only gay man in a fifty mile radius who liked Him, I told her I thought I was doing a good job and walked off.

I have a couple ‘Servants of Hekate’ assigned to me in the form of some favorite fictional characters. I used to think it was their Egregore, but I learned of their true nature about a year ago. Otherwise, my Reiki Guide recently revealed itself to me since getting my first two attunements.

I am excited to go to yoga again tonight! I met a teacher in alignment with my fitness goals last week at the donation-based class, and she told me about her regular class on Thursday nights. If I do get trained as an instructor, I think I’d most likely be invested just to know my body better.

Despite my Jewish ancestry, Jesus Christ likes to show up in my spiritual practice around Yom Kippur so the energy doesn’t overwhelm me. I honor everyone along the Wheel of the Year to stay grounded in the seasons—instead of celebrating anything Abrahamic. I like to read about everything, though!

My magickal name is basically a string of lyrical nonsense syllables. It means “The Seventh Alias of the Named Phenomenon.” It is the seventh name I tried before changing my legal name for gender-affirming reasons. It represents the core experience of my personal mysticism.

Between psychiatric interventions and my spiritual practice, I’ve really gotten a handle on my life over the past year. My experiences consistently provide catalysts for huge amounts of personal growth. I may never function according to societal standards, but I dare say that’s a good thing.

I currently have three areas of my life I’m focusing on improving: Mind, Body and Soul. I have plans to go back to school for art, practice yoga toward a potential instructor certification and get attuned as a master-level reiki practitioner. January is when I’ll start to really dig in.

I’m going to another group meditation tonight hosted by the woman who facilitated my reiki attunement. I’m hoping to do a full energetic cleanse on myself beforehand. It’s been a nice routine to keep up alongside the moon cycle.

I’m back in my fandom era, and I’m working on a script for a comic at the moment!! I guess I never left, but I haven’t written a fic in ages! For those not in the know, my specialty is a horrendously self-indulgent alternate universe—featuring OCs smattered throughout the canon of Good Omens.

I am going back to school in the Spring for an AAS for Marketing & Design! I’d love to finally be employed—and I think remote Graphic Design would be perfect. I’d like to eventually make my own content after I finish training in oracular techniques under my mentor.

Ever since I experienced a burnt out therapist, I will always cheer on my mental health professionals for going on vacation. Gives me practice relying on skills I’ve learned from therapy for a while, and then we’re both happy to see each other!

My friend’s religious conservative mother found out I am a witch and told her brother ‘dark spirits’ follow me. I mean, she’s not wrong! I have allies that span the entire spectrum. We don’t discriminate here…

I am set up to become a Reiki Master in January, including financial support from my family and mental health care team. I am thrilled to reach this milestone.

I have finally begun to self-administer Reiki in my personal practice since I was attuned on the Summer Solstice. Although it has brought up many difficult feelings, I have been successful in transmuting them as an interconnected sense of empowerment. I honestly never thought I’d get this far.

Being as open as I am is isolating and infuriating, to be completely honest. People either have their eyes glaze over, don’t believe me or envy my abilities when I open up about my experiences. What they seek is an escape, when working with spirits is actually a responsibility.

I found my spirits by necessity after an extremely painful ordeal known as a “spiritual dismemberment.” I require their aid to function and attend to the things I am called toward. They are both an invocation and soothing balm to my madness.

Being predisposed to Spirit Work is absolutely maddening and makes a person a lot stranger than those that envy us would assume.

Being open is no better or worse than closed, in terms of one’s ability to perceive spirits—but if you must, try Trance-Portation by Diana Paxson.
