This Red-breasted Merganser was feeding on the lower Ogmore Estuary, this morning. A scarce bird at the site, with maybe one every five years or so.

09.01.2025 20:50 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The spring-fed waters at Burrows Well, Merthyr Mawr Warren, can be a magnet for insectivores in cold weather such as this. Today this included Yellow-browed Warbler (found by Dean Bolt), Firecrest and 20+ Chiffchaffs, at least 3 of which were Siberian. Not too shabby!
