02.11.2025 14:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0As someone who recently moved from Texas for my wife's job, I love this so much. It's hard to describe to people the things I love about Texas despite everything and this puts some of that to words
28.10.2025 14:59 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Praying for Jamaica and thinking about what the people there are going through and what they will be needing in the coming daysโalways a good time to support relief work, but especially now โ
28.10.2025 14:40 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1I grew up in a non-affirming church. When I was 16, I saw the dad of one of my church friends on Facebook defending trans people (and using the Bible in his defense). Idk if he even knows I saw that, but it was hugely important to me. Having affirming voices in those spaces can make such an impact
28.10.2025 11:46 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0yep, still meditating on itโwe had a guest preacher who's the pastor at a local Lutheran church and I am glad they did not shy away from it

I've found some folks whose music and values I am grateful for, most recently Thomas Austinโyou may enjoy his music fwiw

(and the only reason I put purple in second is based on having read yours, otherwise I would have put in green or yellow next)
I just went and did Connections right after seeing this and HARD AGREE! I found purple basically immediately and went "there's no way it's that one..." so saved it and then put blue in first because it was notably harder! Purple was definitely the easiest
17.10.2025 14:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah, I was lucky as a kidโmy parents basically didn't restrict my internet usage once I was about 10 and I easily could have ended up in really bad corners of the internet and only by happenstance ended up in good ones. But now I don't even know if it'd be possible to get that lucky

07.10.2025 15:38 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was reading some from yallversion.com at one point, which is a translation that uses y'all and, though I've got some other issues with the translation, it was really fun to read with the y'all (and on their web version they let you change the y'all to other English second person plurals)
07.10.2025 15:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0English has so many good second person plural pronouns (y'all, youse, yinz) that are so stigmatized from bigotry and it's Wild. I lived in Texas for years and learned to say y'all and am committed to it now
07.10.2025 14:11 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It was the Eucharistic prayer currently in use when I started attending the parish that really made me feel at home in the Episcopal Church, and I remember kind of marveling at that being a way we could talk about creation and sin and redemptionโso distinct from what I was raised with
01.10.2025 21:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's my favorite Eucharistic prayer! I appreciate its theology and its language but I also have sentimental love for it
01.10.2025 21:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0not particularly surprised to hear that's what you're hearing but saddened by it, regardless. will be keeping them in my prayers and keeping an eye out for ways to materially address the harm they have faced in and from the church

24.09.2025 21:30 โ ๐ 364 ๐ 38 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 1what's wild to me about the supposed rapture date stuff is that in the evangelical world I was raised in, it was sacrilegious to predict the date of the rapture "no one knows the day or the hour", etc. etc.

I've got a soft spot for the NLT (it's the translation of my childhood, though I use it less often now) and it's interesting here: "I have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished." Not totally sure how I feel about it
