My four new chip & dips are almost ready to go into my Esty shop. I need to sand the foot rings, run them through the dishwasher (to clean them and to test them, to ensure they are durable), and take beauty shots. They will go up this weekend.

Here is the other serving tray from this week's kiln load. Once again, Georgies' Autumn Leaf interactive pigment was the perfect wipe-back under the celadon glazes. Now that I see it in color, I can see that the texture itself is a chinoiserie riff. It's probably why I like it so much!

Just an amazing load from the kiln this week! Here is my finished pumpkin serving tray. I used Georgies' Autumn Leaf interactive pigment under the celadon glazes, which added quite a bit of color depth to the texture. Even better than I hoped it would be!

Number 4 of 4! The last of my new chip & dips batch is on its way to the glaze kiln. This uses a "modified" Peacock glazing technique I've been wanting to try, as well as my new Mayco Spiced Cream glaze on the bottom, which is supposed to look great on textured surfaces. #KilnGodsBeKind

This is the third of four new chip & dip bowls, glazed using the Peacock Method. These are very time-consuming to glaze and it looks like such a mess, but they come out of the kiln looking just amazing!

Here's another autumn-themed serving tray in the works, this one with leaves and berries. As with all my textured works, I apply interactive pigment and wipe it back before glazing with celadons, so the textures will really pop. Can't wait to see how this one comes out!

Here's a new serving tray with an autumnal pumpkin and sunflower theme I've been working on. I just wrapped up the glazing and now it's off to the glaze fire! May the kiln gods smile as it burns. ☺️

Just finished a batch of brown sugar savers, which can also be used as diffusers for essential oils or perfume. These will go to the kiln on Friday, August 15th and should be up in my Etsy shop the following weekend.

Secret Project Update: Off to the Kiln (Final Round) The final clear gloss has been applied, and now it's off to the kiln again. Please send your very best thoughts, prayers, and good-karma wishes for a successful final firing!

I'm finally on the last step for this project β€” the clear glaze top coat firing! Tune in next week to find out if the kiln gods smiled.

Secret Project Update: Five Weeks of Glazing While I've been waiting for my website theme template issues to get resolved by the developer, I was busy working on my Secret Project. I had to build the platter three times due to various misfortunes, but the third time was the charm. It came out of bisque kiln intact and was waiting on my shelf July 4th. I've been working on the glazing ever since.

I've been working hard on my Secret Pottery Project these past five weeks, and I've got tons to share! Lots of tidbits and photos ahead, so let's dive right in!

Studio Improvement Project: Slab Roller Table I've been wanting to buy a professional-grade slab roller for some time, and I finally did that in June. If you want to see how I built a rolling table for my slab roller by myself by repurposing a stainless steel tool cart, take a look at this photo gallery. I'm so proud of myself!

I finally bought a decent slab roller last month β€” and I built a rolling table for it by repurposing a stainless steel tool cart. Watch how in the photo gallery. https://sublimegoddesspottery.com/slab-roller-table/

Apologies to my website visitors, but the last theme security update inadvertently deleted all of the page templates, so everything was looking really weird and wild out there. I just got a fix loaded from the developer today, and everything is displaying normally again. Whew!

Got this lace at the antiques store for possible pottery purposes (PPP) and sadly it has been appropriated.

I don't understand rich people who spend their money on yachts and partying. If I had the time and the money I'd spend it on classes to learn to sing, draw, paint, weave, make pottery, carve wood, all the random skills I do not currently have. Become a true renaissance man. That's the real flex.

Sometimes Sh*t Happens: This is Why We Test As an artist who sells things they make to the public, I feel I have an obligation to take some basic quality control measures with the things I sell. I want to be able to state with confidence that each piece can perform to the standards I am advertising, such as dishwasher safe and oven safe.

If I say something is dishwasher safe, that means I’ve actually run it through my dishwasher. If I say something is oven safe, that means I’ve actually baked something in it. And sometimes, sh*t happens. https://sg-pots.art/testing123

Tool Bucket Update: Glazing My new tool bucket project made it safely out of bisque and today was glazing day! I saw some really interesting photos of pieces that had been glazed using a particular combination, and I wanted to see how that combo would look on the tool bucket.

I was so happy to arrive at the studio today to find my dragon tool bucket sitting on my shelf, safe and sound and ready for glazing! Check out the gallery photos to see how it was glazed. https://sg-pots.art/06-26-25

Upping the Ante: Final Results It was so exciting to finally pick up this berry basket and underplate combo from my pottery studio on Sunday, because it is gorgeous! I'll be posting it for sale in my Etsy shop this weekend. Just need to pick up some berries from the farmer's market for the photo shoot and we'll call it a wrap.

Check out the photo gallery showing the evolution of my latest berry basket and underplate, from the hand-built form, to bisque fire, to glazing, and the final result! https://sg-pots.art/06-22-25

Secret Project Update: Rounds 2 & 3 For the benefit of those who are following the saga of my supposedly doomed to fail secret project, here is another update. We are now on round three, and counting.

I haven't forgotten about my secret project, which I'm making as a special gift to commemorate a special event in someone’s life. The first prototype blew up in the bisque kiln. For more on how rounds 2 and 3 went, read on. https://sublimegoddesspottery.com/secret-project-new-hope/

Ain't No Cure for the Reclaim Blues My bucket of bone dry clay bits has been building up in my home studio over the past three years since I first started my pottery classes, and it's now overflowing. It's time to reclaim that clay so I can make beautiful things with it!

Just for Me: A Tool Bucket All of My Own I have a lot of tall, clunky tools that I need to keep at hand while I’m working, and I’ve been using a tall plastic bucket for storage. A tall, tipsy bucket that is constantly falling over, spilling its contents on the floor. This week, I decided I was going to do something about that.

For the first time ever, I am making something just for me. Something I want and need and will use every day in my home studio. Why haven't I thought of this before?

New Build: Berry Basket & Underplate (Upping the Ante, Part Three) Not all the news was bad from Friday's kiln opening. My latest berry basket project made it out of the bisque kiln intact, and so today's effort was to glaze both the berry basket and the underplate, and get them into the kiln.

Some good news from the latest kiln opening was that my new berry basket and underplate set made it through bisque. Check out the photo gallery on my website to see the glazing.

Secret Project Update: Disaster! I dropped off a secret project I was working on for bisque firing on June 1st, and was expecting to get it back for glazing today. But alas! The kiln gods were not kind.

What can I say? Sometimes the kiln gods decide to smite a piece. Call it fate. Call it bad luck. Whatever. Sometimes, sh*t just happens. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― https://sublimegoddesspottery.com/secret-project-disaster/

Even though the berry basket was in the bisque kiln already, I have lots of photos I could refer to as I made the matching underplate. They should both be through the bisque kiln by next Friday, so check back then to see how they look together.

New Build: Berry Basket (Upping the Ante) As I discussed in last week’s post, I wanted to make an underplate for my latest WIP. This is always a little trickier when two parts of a set are made individually β€” and several days apart, at that.

I made a new berry basket last week. Was it too late to make a matching underplate to go with it? https://sg-pots.art/06-06-25

Proof of Concept: Bread & Cracker Tray I’m ready to reveal the final piece from last week’s kiln opening β€” and as you might expect, I’ve saved the best for last! My leaf-shaped charcuterie boards make it easy to create beautiful arrangements of key ingredients, but I also wanted to make something to hold toasted baguette slices and crackers, because let’s face it, what’s charcuterie without something to put it on?

To say I’m over the moon with how this bread & cracker tray came out is an understatement. This finished piece is drop-dead gorgeous! In fact, someone at my pottery studio said it wasn’t just a bread tray β€” it was a bread throne! https://sg-pots.art/06-05-2025
