Workers at Eddy House, a Reno NV nonprofit that provides services to 18-24 homeless youth, have begun an effort to unionize with SEIU Local 1107.
EH's CEO posted this on Insta, & blocked all comments just minutes later. Here also is a statement from the workers. May their effort be successful!
We haven't posted in a while, but we are very active offline these days, & we have welcomed lots of new members in the last few months.
Many of you bought your first firearm recently, but that's just the first step. You should learn to use it safely & effectively. We can help. Join the SRA today!
I would go so far as to say this applies to folks in wildfire country. So if you live in a place with lots of trees and wild lands, nobodyβs coming to help us.
Make plans NOW with neighbors/friends/community for your most likely natural disaster.
Great range day today in the hills outside Reno.
We went over AR-15 fundamentals and safety, working with both complete novices & experienced shooters.
Beautiful weather and a crew of friendly comrades, what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I'm getting very weary of people saying "they can't do that" while witnessing fascists go ahead & do a thing that was once illegal.
They're doing it, homes. Law, crime, it's all a means to an end for these beasts.
Don't be the last one constrained by the laws. That's how people end up in camps.
Today a homeless couple walked past my house in the middle of the street.
The young man wore a katana on his back w/ a duct-taped scabbard. He gripped a skateboard in one hand & scanned the perimeter while his partner pushed the cart.
Cyberpunk dystopia is here, albeit unevenly distributed.
It's hard, seasonal work, but a solid paid contract of 6+ weeks plus room & board can be a good springboard to relocating to NV or CA. If that's been on your mind, this option has worked for some.
Keep checking the job board but also sign up for general DPW jobs here:

Learn something new today.
Practice something today.
Teach something today.
Weβre only going to survive the next few years by working together, by learning and adapting together, and sharing our skills & knowledge.
Opposing fascism can take many different forms, and if you are curious about little but important things you can do to help keep your community safe, this pamphlet is excellent food for thought.

Some things you can do. No one can do all these things, but most people can do at least one:
Feed people. There's work for you at Food Not Bombs or whatever you got going on where are.
Join a local cop watch, ICE watch, or rapid response group.
Who's being targeted in your area? Have their back.
The melting floe to which you cling
Where you have piled all your things
They're drowning all around you as they swim
Your stomping on their fingers & your ice is getting thin
Honkybabble
Pointing at your food making a scene
Honkybabble
Oh now, you're calling the police?

Good advice. If you see a need like hunger in your community, you can either wait for the government to help - or you can get some friends together and start doing it yourself.
The best cure for those feelings of helplessness is finding ways to help.
Take the initiative, your community needs you!

For the novice, firearms can seem intimidating.
Mainstream gun culture often skews right wing & macho, which can turn off marginalized folks from learning these valuable skills.
But hereβs a little secret: once you learn how to use them safely, guns can be lots of FUN! Join your local SRA today!
People pick out canned food and other essentials as autonomous mutual aid hub in Appalachia.
Mutual aid program in Brooklyn, NY.
Mutual Aid Disaster Relief volunteers unload truck.
Food Not Bombs volunteers serve food outside to hungry.
From local Food Not Bombs chapters to mutual aid hubs operating in disaster zones - the growing size and scope of anarchist and autonomous mutual aid efforts is impressive. As politicians continue to slash basic programs, these projects will continue to be a lifeline in many communities.

RENO NV -
Several community groups have come together to establish a network of warming centers for our unhoused neighbors. We need more volunteers to help staff them!
Winter is a dangerous time to be unhoused. If you have time, help keep your community safe!

We had a great range day today, working on handgun fundamentals, fine tuning the sighting on an AR, and just generally hanging out together in nature.
We should do this more often! And so should you.
If you live in Northern Nevada and are curious about firearms but would rather learn and train without the right wing politics and macho gun culture, youβre not alone.
The Reno SRA can help you learn the fundamentals of gun safety and training in a supportive environment.
