Welsh has *more* vowels than English. And who goes to another country and gets mad that their native language doesn’t follow English rules? As if English makes sense. I would expect an author to have more appreciation for language.

As an American, I am disconnected from the culture and lands of my ancestors. This disconnection can be hard to navigate. We can’t force ourselves back into a culture that moved forward without us, and the land we occupy isn’t truly ours. Its challenging.

Then you know I’m always going to speak out for awareness on this topic. There are better words.

Especially in a way that demeans them.

You’re still using the insult to the disabled person. You’re feeding into the premise that being disabled is bad. It perpetuates stereotypes. I have kids with cognitive disabilities. They work twice as hard to do half as much and they’re kind. They don’t deserve to have assholes compared to them.

The thing is, you’re not hurting them. You’re comparing them to someone with a disability and insinuating that to have such a disability is a bad thing. People don’t choose to have intellectual abilities and they aren’t willfully anything. They don’t deserve the comparison.

If someone’s being one, I don’t see why not.

I will! I say that every word is a piece of Cymru that lives in my heart wherever I am. You have been given an incredible gift to have it as your first language. I’m very jealous. 😊

Please consider retiring the r-word. It’s super harmful to people with intellectual disabilities and they’ve asked us to stop. If someone’s ridiculous or ignorant or a shit-stirrer or whatever, consider saying that. ✌🏻

I know I have complained before about my frustration learning Welsh. The problem is not with the language, which continues to captivate me, but with my own brain which won’t soak it in fast enough. I want to swim in this language.

We barely need a reason. We’re mad at everything for no reason at all. And for all the reasons. Because…I mean we can see all that’s going on.
