Our Regional Gathering started yesterday with a study visit to Kinlochleven Community Trust, supported by @scalliance.bsky.social Community Learning Exchange. Fascinating visit where we learned about the work of the trust and visited the Family Hub, museum and the Ice Factor.

The Community Led Housing Alliance urges increased public investment to build more affordable homes. They propose a £55 million Community Led Housing Fund, publicly-backed loans, and more support for community housing.

Brought up on a croft in Skye, Megan has had 25 years of international land reform experience, including seven years working in Cambodia. Closer to home, she has been Development Manager of Applecross Community Company since 2021, and she spent six years on the Scottish Land Commission.

West Wemyss tenants faces 'mass eviction' of 35 households The move comes after a new landlord bought the properties in two villages near Kirkcaldy.

We were saddened to read this recent BBC article about mass evictions in West Wemyss and Denbeath. This provides a stark reminder of why local control of land and housing matters. When decisions about homes are made by distant corporate investors, it is communities that pay the price.

Ulva appears on BBC Scotland’s Banjo & Ro’s Grand Hotel, as community-owned Ulva House, is being transformed into a new hotel. The project shows how community landownership drives economic renewal, with charity and locals supporting the tenants. We are eager to follow it.

Community Land Scotland will be closed from 20th December to the 5th January.
