Someone recently told me I should start an arthouse cinema in the state - it's a real drag that we don't have something like Kendall Sq/Coolidge Corner/Brattle Theater here in RI. I feel like Jane Pickens in Newport is the closest, and even that doesn't really compare.

(Yep, this is my own bias re: what works for theaters these days. Being in a half-dead mall was probably part of the issue.)

Though I'm not super surprised that hosting all the Christian movies and refusing to show anything with a whiff of queerness (Bottoms, for example) isn't a recipe for success these days.

Cinemaworld in Lincoln is closing on Saturday. I'm gonna miss that terrible theater. Two of my best movie theater people-watching experiences have happened there, including sitting near two decked out elder goths for FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES (I think) and a truly Lynchian trio another time.

Yep! We've got a confluence of factors contributing to warmer air temps and warmer waters (& the accompanying sea level rise).

It’s not just Medicaid funding they’re withholding to MN. It’s food assistance, child care assistance, social services, job training, safety testing, public health, disaster relief. SNAP. Free lunch for kids in school.

They hate us for loving our neighbors, and are collectively punishing us for it.

I know DEM has some ag programs (grants etc) but for immediate help to get back up and running, insurance and community assistance is probably the move

Hey Providence, Echo Village, the pallet houses on Victor St off Douglas, needs shoveling help. They are struggling in the snow--the tiny houses there don't have kitchens or bathrooms & people can't get their doors open to reach facilities

Totally, but I want to clear the heat pump, which is about 20 feet from the nearest door. At least it's behind a big rhododendron bush, so it has a little protection from the drifting snow.

I lived in Somerville and we got so much snow, repeatedly, with no melting, that the sidewalks had drifts towering over our heads. It got so hard to shovel (where to put the snow?) that walking space wasn't wide enough for two people to pass each other.

We're looking at another 20" of snow where I am, but at least I'm snowed in with people I think are great!!
