Listened to a podcast episode recently that really crystalized my approach to resistance and community care.
Part of it was letting go of “fixing things”, abandoning that specific expectation, and shifting to making things better in all the small ways possible.

Getting in some quality content this month before my Disney subscription lapses.

This whole thing was such a mood.

On behalf of trans men everywhere: This blows. It is much worse to be included as women than excluded from women-only things. None of us want this.

As we get further from that dark and early time in the AIDS crisis, the sting of that difficult history will fade.
But knowing someone from that generation who lost so much is something I will never forget.

In my 20s I worked at a bar in the Castro. We had a middle aged barfly who came in every day at happy hour - jovial and buying people drinks.
He would often be in tears by 8 pm, and one of our staff would walk him home.
He lost his entire friend group to AIDS, couldn’t forgive himself for surviving-

Even better - robots and AVs could have their own lanes (on the road not the sidewalk). But they’d have to drive better to begin with.

There is zero evidence that the boats in the Caribbean were involved in drug trafficking.

If they were, it’s still murder in international waters.

A blend of: self-care, fun (aka joy - shouldn’t be underrated now esp), and community involvement / action.
That last one I’ve been honing for a while. It’s taken persistence, patience, and relationship building. But I found my lane finally.
Find your people. Community is the antidote to despair.

The best Star Wars film is obviously the one that Gilroy makes next where Vel and Kleya kill all the Nazis.

Heteronormative and cisnormative - yes. They don’t know how to treat a human without gender included. They’re building a relationship through the lens of gender before the baby breathes fresh air. It’s so very limiting for everyone.

The moral question is obvious. But they’re wrong politically too.

We’re not at the strongly worded letter stage anymore. The room has been misread.

Hello members of Asheville city council, I am a resident of Asheville and am writing in support of the resolution that prohibits ICE / CBP from using city property including parks, lots, schools, libraries and community centers. We do not want these federal agencies in our community. They foment fear and violence. We value all community members, including our immigrant community. Immigrants make this city great. We are all Asheville, come hell or high water, as we know so well from last year. Silence is complicity. We must stand together. We keep each other safe. Asheville strong.

Heads up Asheville - there’s a resolution that will go before City Council today to prohibit ICE and CBP from using city property for operations.

This would include parks, lots, schools, libraries, and community centers.
