But I think that level of caution is a good thing. In treating this airsoft gun like the weapon it is (and is meant to look like), I get to put my knowledge of firearm safety into practice. This will help prepare me for owning and maintaining a real firearm in the future, which I think is neat.

To be completely honest, I got it because I wanted a toy to shoot pop cans with or something. Something more powerful than a nerf gun. But it's not a toy. Even if it's not nearly as dangerous as a real Beretta, it's still a weapon. So I have to handle it with the same care (or 99%) as the real gun.

Got an airsoft gun yesterday! It's higher quality than I would've thought. It's an airsoft replica of a Beretta handgun, with a metal barrel, a safety, and an ejectable magazine that's very similar to the real deal. All for $30, which is a steal as far as my newbie ass is concerned.

Fascists are obviously the most dangerous, but I think they're the most frustrating too. Reactionary liberals (see Newsom, Weiss, Noah Smith, etc) are evil but at least capable and sometimes willing to engage in reason. The fash just laugh at us for valuing things like truth. It's infuriating.

This weird game where you condemn the act but not the perpetrator because your entire self conceptualization as a state in relation to the Middle East is to back that perpetrator is very off putting. Why not just stay silent? That frankly would be more honest.

I have the modern remakes of 1-4 on my PS4, Zero and 5-6 on my Switch, and 7-9 on my Switch 2. I will get through them, but it's going to be an uphill battle, even on lower difficulty. But once 9 is knocked out, I bet the others will be relatively easier.

I am, technically, a big fan of Resident Evil. I'm very interested in the story and have thoroughly enjoyed watching playthroughs of most of the mainline games. But actually playing them is another matter. I can't minimize the screen or look away when there's terrifying shit on my own console.

I haven't played this game in days because each day I've found myself unwilling to go back into that damned medical clinic. I *will* work up the nerve to do it in the next week or two, but I'm just such a wuss. My heart was racing and not in a good way when the Shadow Ghost was around.

The Republican Party, and mainstream conservative parties across Western countries, talk about Muslim people the way Nazis talk about Jewish people. Both groups rant about their targets’ “hatred for the white man,” “hatred for Western Civilization,” “sinister plot to replace the democratic order with extreme religious law.”

“Ordinary” conservatives cherry pick and misinterpret the Quran, just as Nazis cherry pick and misinterpret the Talmud. One could do the same with various passages from Christian scripture, but that wouldn’t help the right’s fearmongering efforts. This is especially ironic coming from Christian Nationalist Republicans, as they are currently the group with the best chance at implementing theocracy.

The GOP’s favorite martyr was especially fond of this kind of hatred, mirroring Nazi rhetoric insisting “tolerance of the Jewish people is cultural and civilizational suicide.” Above: June 2025 tweet from Charlie Kirk reading: "It's not Islamophobia to notice that a man who wants to globalize the intifada is about to run America's largest and once greatest city. Newsom cares more about political expediency than about forming any sincere convictions. As governor, he’s appealed to Democratic voters by passing some good progressive policies. But he’s also attempted to appease reactionary interests by sending burner phones to tech CEO’s, pushing cities to criminalize homelessness, and proposing screwing over the disabled as a means of reducing Medi-Cal’s budget strain.

Gavin Newsom’s guiding light is not progressive liberal ideology, an earnest desire to do good, or even venomous hatred of MAGA. He is chasing nothing but greater power and prestige. It is beyond disappointing to see even a single Democrat supporting such a cynical, ego-driven politician. Ditch Greasy Gavin. Support leaders who actually care about other people.
