US solar tops 11.7 GW in a huge Q3 despite political roadblocks The US added 11.7 GW of solar in Q3 2025, pushing yearly totals past 30 GW, with most new installations happening in red states.

Congrats CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM states, plus AZ, FL, & UT! Ratepayers in @iso-ne.com states applaud your leadership

Here's a ~900 MW surge between NYISO and ISO-NE, occuring from 17:40-17:55. ISO-NE cites an ~900MW loss of generation around this time, in one large thermal plant and two smaller plants. Were these plant outages in/around Braintree, where 100s of res/biz outages occurred? The 3 plants total >900MW.

Not interested in debating semantics, but inter-agency inconsistency in using the word "emergency" is confusing/ concerning - and blackouts in Braintree were attributed to a transmission surge from outside the distribution system - by Braintree officials - making it substantive.

@iso-ne.com doubled-down yesterday in a meeting of the Consumer Liaison Group, claiming the Energy Emergency Level 1 alert ISO-NE declared 11/23 was a "not emergency". Hundreds of residential & business outages occured in Braintree, Milton and Mattapan during this emergency "not emergency".

Time series chart of real-time 5 min ISO-NE wholesale electricity prices, showing the huge evening spike due to the as-yet unexplained grid emergency.

The integral under this spike is how much disaster capitalism profited off this f*uck up. Letโ€™s call it an hour at $2500/MWh. Peak demand was about 15,500MW during that hour. So this was on the order of $40M in profit - ultimately paid by ratepayers.

For the many who can (not everyone can) itโ€™s a reliable 15 min by bike & 35 min by foot; youโ€™ll pollute less, save money, increase your health, reduce congestion for those who actually must use a car, and reduce your utter dependency on the car-fossil-fuel-industrial complex.

Riley wrote that many of the demands of the YDSA's petition - including the protection of student privacy and training surrounding warrants - are "already in place."

"In light of recent federal immigration actions, the University has increased its outreach, published additional guidance, and expanded the resources available to international students," Riley wrote.

โ€œInternational students now have access to up to three-hours of free legal consultation with outside immigration attorneys."

He added that while the University has not reported any instances of federal immigration agents entering campus, BU is "closely monitoring the situation."
